Incorrect size format and even more so having that large island of cameras! It would have been better less tall and wider, like the pixel 9 pro XL and others... but Xiaomi clings to that uncomfortable air conditioning control format

I am not even mentioning the ugly camera island that look like a floor drain superglued to brick. Nobody wants to be seen like a man talking to a floor drain while making a phone call.

Why then are they using the imx858 on the Xiaomi 15 ultra and Xiaomi 15 pro for telephotos whilst the the standard Xiaomi 15 uses the jn5 for the telephoto especially considering the imx858 seems to be slightly more expensive? Why wouldn't they just swap out the 3x imx858 for a 3x jn5? Would Xiaomi use really use a better sensor in the standard version compared to the pro and ultra models?

Despite being a bit smaller, JN5 is a much more advanced sensor with better PDAF, better HDR and better S/N ratio. IMX858 wasn’t great even when it came out and it has no place in a modern flagship.

Downgrade on the main camera with the removal of the variable aperture, same smallish 3x telephoto (smaller than standard flagships from Vivo and OPPO and even Realme i.e. smaller than the Vivo x200 and find x8 and Realme gt 7pro.), a downgraded ultrawide from imx858 to jn5. The long range telephoto is a big upgrade to HP9 but basically one upgrade and two downgrades for the rear cameras. The battery upgrade by around 500-700mAh is the other upgrade. Probably better than the upgrade from the Xiaomi 13 ultra to the Xiaomi 14 ultra but there hasn't been any great camera jump from the Xiaomi 13 ultra to Xiaomi 15 ultra. It's basically one improved telephoto sensor. Still a much better effort than Samsung and Apple anyway but not a big upgrade overall on the Xiaomi 14 ultra (although that was already ahead of Samsung and Apple for cameras). The good news for international buyers though is that the price is likely to remain the same. It might rise in China
