Expandable memory and an external DAC still makes it nicer than most DAPS because of the UI and ability to use a 2tb micro SD card if I want.. Still, the LG sounds far better.

The software is good for the most part. Their auto-processing needs to be improved for sure, but they have amazing AF on their cameras.
Cheap plastic lens? Based on what? Most brands use plastic in their lens.
Small sensors? They have a sensor that's as efficient as the bigger sensors.
You're reeking of bias rn

Bro their headphones/earphones are some of the most open for an audio brand that also makes phones, like you can legit use them on any phone and get the same quality with the same amazing EQs."
I care about their ecosystem and so do others. They had plenty of properly functioning apps discontinued over time and had no reason to remove the ambient display features. I already know about their headphones and EQ settings, I've used them before.
The Huawei thing is fine, they have a more complete ecosystem than most other brands except for Samsung and Apple, but I don't want to go that route.

Gekko, 22 Feb 2025Hey! Have u heard about the term "audio jack" and... moreHaving 3.5mm jack doesn't justify the high price unless Sony put a really high quality DAC .. a default Qualcomm DAC is there for people like you.
If that your standard to listen to a "good" music, then a generic type C to 3.5mm or having Bluetooth with AAC or AptX support are good enough for you.

As long as it doesn't have the di... moreThey will very likely remove features, maybe even expandable memory, but they'll remove far less than the rights we are losing in the country I live in. As for these phones, I'll just have to have multiple devices when my Xperia 5 III stops working. Yes, the screen is too small and narrow for my tastes but it's comfortable to carry in my pocket so that's good enough. I'll just have to one day by a real camera and an inexpensive DAP, if I'm still alive, that will still sound better than Sony phones, and take far superior photos than any phone. By the way, although it drains the battery, one been using LDAC through a headline amplifier transmitter/receiver and it actually sounds better than through the headphone jack. An old LG I have sounds better than both. I won't be able to buy this new model in the U.S. anyway.

Gekko, 22 Feb 2025Hey! Have u heard about the term "audio jack" and... moreBut, it all comes down to price. While sony still sells in the US the xperia 1 V's base model costs $1399,$100 higher than even the S24 Ultra. They literally introduced a stupid question "do you want an headphone jack for $100 more". Bro they needs to have their price cut to below $1000.

Gekko, 22 Feb 2025Hey! Have u heard about the term "audio jack" and... moreim not saying headphone jacks are bad, im just saying they're useless as a Unique Selling Point (USP) for these phones as you can supplement the lack of a headphone jack with an arguably better option, a proper high res DAC like the FiiO KA1 or KA3.
I listen to songs 5-8 hours per day and i use my type-c to 3.5mm adapter all the time, i even mix songs in my free time.

jiyen235, 22 Feb 2025Who cares about Sony's ecosystem? Bro their headphones... moreHey! Have u heard about the term "audio jack" and remember today the only brand that includes in its latest smartphones is sony only ,not your sam,1- or any ximi chinese phones have it and don't tell me to use an earbud or bluetooth headphone they lack quality and through typ-c module its even worse, i don't think anyone who loves music will use first a conector(typ-c to 3.5mm) to just listen to some good music , there is even more things which u can read it on this website but for now its enough, hope u'll understand.

I just want a new phone that still has an expanded memory slot. My 10 year old Samsung is on its last leg. Camera doesn't even work anymore. Every picture looks like it's in a fog. And, yes, I've done a complete factory reset on the phone. I'm guessing the lenses are out of wack from being dropped so many times in the past, or when the battery expanded and split the case open. I look forward to the new Sony, and all its more advance features over what I'm using now. Never had a Sony, always used a Samsung, but I continue to need a memory expansion slot.

I don't really get the Huawei ecosystem thing, besides, unless you're Chinese, I don't think Huawei's for you, moreover since you value small quality of life features that an ecosystem will provide, i think the Huawei's gonna be even worse for you. It's only for tinkerers/people ready to accept some flaws.
And yeah, I agree, whatever they did till the 1 V was at least acceptable, i didn't really approve of their practices or anything but with the 1 VI they just fell off, just like Asus did with the Zenfone 11 Ultra and the ROG Phone 8 Pro, they forgot what made them great in the first place and started doing idiotic things in order to capture more of the market but ended up alienating its core audience and it wasn't even nearly good enough for the average person either.

Whatever, who cares. As long as it doesn't have the display ratio of Xperia 1 V and earlier, 4K screen and a notification LED it's a huge downgrade from my 1 III. I'm eagerly waiting to see what feature(s) will they remove this year.

Alex Norris, 22 Feb 2025Bad Software with strong oversharpening, cheap plastic lens... moreThat's what these little sensors and plastic lenses XD (LOL) can do at low light (BT2020 screen is required):
https://youtu.be/7byp_9pCa6E
Believe me you have no idea what they can do at 4K120HDR rec in sunny day...
VideoPro was the best app for video I ever seen but people want something "one button" sooo they recive new app that is like toy for kids (1VI).
As for oversharpening, you are sorely wrong. Xperia renders details very subtly at full frame level (new video will show this). Even a very dense mountain pine forest at a distance of 500 meters from the lens is rendered with details without spots...
