Are a lot of people really interested in taking close up photos of objects that nobody is interested in? I'd much rather they could take a decent photo of friends and family (which seems to be quite challenging to get right as many phones still mess up skintone and skin texture in certain lighting)

Mrwhostheboss already has a great youtube vid on it vs z fold 6

Good to see foldable getting thinner.

Find N2 form factor was definitely better and would make the device more pocketable being smaller and lighter.

Am I the only one who doesn't mind using a thicker phone with a larger battery? Cus i really don't see the point of huge camera bumps.

Be it Apple, Samsung, Vivo, Google, Oppo or anyone else, camera bumps are pointless unless you're trying to go for style points/trying to target the bottom common denominator, the average person.

Impressive but now the records have been broken, can we go back to a more balanced design with less camera protrusion and larger batteries.

EskeRahn, 20 Feb 2025Well we can only hope that different manufacturers decide o... moreyeah it'd be cool if Oppo makes the thinnest foldables but with camera compromises, so people who don't want the hassle of a thick/heavy phone can go for that and Vivo makes camera centric beasts that people are going to use if they prioritize cameras and are ok with a thicker/heavier phone.

More choices for everyone. Unless Samsung surprises everyone with a Fold with an internal S Pen OR a Fold with a proper flagship triple cam setup like something like the Find N3 or better, i don't think Samsung's foldables are gonna be contenders.

We have for many years been plagued by 99% of the offered smartphones being virtually identical phablets. so ANY variation is welcomed in my book!

We are never going to get the perfect device for all, so each are going to get what ever of the offered that is the best compromise for their combination of use case and economy.

Now that's a useful foldable. But a chinese company so hard pass.

Sure, not in terms of thinness and/or weight but definitely in terms of usability.

Cake, 20 Feb 2025It’s a major issue for 1700 and a binned chip.Remember that ALL phones (no matter the price) are compromises.

When comparing the camera, you should not look at the price first, you should look at what others can do in a 8-9mm unit INCLUDING the huge protrusion, a little rough calculus gives that this one unfolded is 8½mm (4¼mm base body, and the same added as protrusion)

So they had to choose a compromise between how thin and how good a camera. Some would have preferred it thinner with a weaker camera, some would have preferred a better camera accepting an even huger bump - there are no universal truth in that decision, just a compromise - and that is not even looking at the production price of the components, and of course they also considered that.

...And they most likely need heavy throttling due to lack of room for fancy cooling, so the CPU would not be running at full power anyway, at least not for many seconds.

It’s too early to buy a foldable. Until the costs come down and the durability increases, it’s a waste of money.
Reminds me of the early touchscreen race when brands were using resistive panels.

If the cameras were better, I'd have no reason to complain, but I'm not going to settle for anything less than what the Vivo X Fold3 Pro offers in terms of cameras. At the very least, they could've done what the Honor Magic V3 has for cameras, even if that's not good enough for what I'm asking for, because it'd at least be good enough for most people. Instead, they stooped down low enough to have that 8MP ultrawide. It's an unacceptable insult of a camera setup that hits a new level of low.

It actually does have something like that, not nearly as good as the S25 Ultra, but way better than the Fold6.
