Junk phone just like iPad mini.
Be sensible. Be it android or apple, if the specs or value is not there, don’t buy.
Then the next iteration the price will go down or provide more specs, as they learn their mistakes.

As I already stated from my latest comment of 16e, the price to features ratio is out of reach. The features upgrade is definitely more noticeable compared to SE 2 to SE 3, but it is priced WAY too close with iPhone 15 vanilla series and even 16 vanilla series. My friend who asked to recommend which iPhone after 16e was launched, even said, they prefer and wanting an ultrawide lens over Apple Intelligence feature, so iPhone 15 looks a better deal here.

Ouifuf, 5 hours agoMajority of people on this site are quite nerdy so they... moreThey are not nerdy, they just see bigger number better. And that’s not much different from what people who don’t know much about tech (which applies to the majority of people here as well, including some article authors) would do if they visited a phone shop and then compare the specs listed next to each phone. But most people here are just different in the way that they visit a website instead of a physical store to compare numbers they don’t understand.

When Apple includes 120Hz in their regular iPhone (not the Pro), then I'll consider revisiting it.

LoneOwl, 6 hours agoOne thing that i found very disappointing(like most things ... moreIt has 1200 nits peak brightness, 800 nits is the full screen typical brightness. And peak brightness, which those Chinese phones advertise, is only on a small window (most often 3%) white against a black background. That is only important for HDR presentation of specular highlights and brings no advantage to outdoor use, which is where brighter screens bring the most noticeable advantage on a phone. And those Chinese phones will also not have a much higher full screen brightness than 800 nits, you can be happy when they even achieve that.

For 450$/€ thi... moreInternational pricing is definitely out of wack with Apple, which makes this phone completely out of its supposed intended segment. Imo the only thing it does internationally is pushing people to buy the regular iPhone 16 instead (which maybe what Apple intended).

After giving it some thought, this feels like a dejavu.
Remember the iPhone XR? Apple launched it at $750. Then the next year, they released the iPhone 11 at $700, and the XR dropped in price drastically to $600.
I have a feeling we might be seeing something similar. Apple intentionally putting a higher price tag now so they have room to play with the pricing later when they have iPhone 17 Air and 17e.

Heck, even iPad 9.7 2017 lowered the price from iPad Air 2 significantly, as worse it is in several ways other than the chip. Same goes for iPad Air 3 over iPad Pro 10.5.
This? It’s not even lowered from the 14, while being what’s the same strategy as those iPads. If MKBHD ever gets to review this, I’m sure he’ll rank it as Bust Of The Year 2025.

The SE was better off being a $500 beginner iPhone for the masses. Now it's placed awkwardly between iPhone 15 and 16 where both phones look like a better value. So the question is, why does this phone even exist ?
