China typically relies on technology theft, state subsidies and anti competitive practice to undercut their competitors. A lot of countries would block more of their products if there was more choice but China does what it can to make things an uneven playing field. Say with the way companies have to pair with local chinese partners to enter the chinese market so they can force them to reveal tech secrets and soak up some of the profit. They then use that to feed the money back into other tech theft / subsidies.
Chinese companies obviously have an advantage in being a strong manufacturing hub as well, this is understandable but doesn't then make sense when their factories are located out of china (like Vietnam and India) but still coming in just as cheap. Obviously subsidised further. Countries are wary of China due to market manipulation and aggressive behaviour on the geopolitics front more than they are simply following American attitudes. That sounds like a stupid paranoid belief based on Chinese papers haha.

it needs to rival the mate XT in terms of specs and dimensions, anything less and its a flop, the fold and flip phones are already miles behind in hardware terms and look embarrassing next to the current and upcoming competition.
The only reason Samsung is relevant in these spaces is because the competition is virtually unavailable in the west in most markets through either blacklisting or bad publicity due to negative press from the US with european markets acting like sheep.
Its either Samsung or Apple, and in hardware terms, both are rubbish compared to the Chinese vendors.

To have decent battery life it needs at least a 5600mAh capacity battery like the Mate XT.
Samsung need to commit to Silicone carbon battery tech now or this phone is an expensive flop

Anonymous, 25 Feb 2025Just double fold, not tri. Tri fold means 3 panels, not 3 hinges. Same as a wallet

Anonymous, 25 Feb 2025Samsung still can't do the outer fold.Only Huawei manages to do it so far. After all, Huawei already have ample experience with outer-screen folding mechanism when they launched the Mate Xs series. I just wish Huawei would give us a Mate Xs 3 with the new age Kirin chipset.

It's possible Samsung might enable you to use it with outer screen folded in. It could be a keyboard or trackpad If you turn the phone vertically, but that's only one screen.
They need a 360 hinge on one side.

YUKI93, 25 Feb 2025Samsung might put an outer screen like in the Z Fold series.100% there will be an external screen, but still you'll not be able to use internal screen unless it's fully open as per the article.

YUKI93, 25 Feb 2025Samsung might put an outer screen like in the Z Fold series.Apple Vision Pro Much better than Samsung's Flex G for what it's worth if the small screen is curved 180° lol It's no different than a tablet except it doesn't take up much space, but the advantage is that you can switch Android and Windows. This will be much more useful to replace a PC and laptop that can be carried anywhere.

I like the Flex G concept idea quite a lot. It's like Samsung retains the current Galaxy Z Fold design but adds a hinge on the right side. But nevertheless, it'll be a great competition against the Huawei Mate XT with a wildly different screen.

This means you can't use only 2 folds, either you fully open or not, which sucks.
