The standalone DeX for Android is still available, and I doubt Samsung would abandon it altogether, especially since Samsung always heavily promotes it to business and enterprise customers.

Android is still stuck and fragmented anyways for the next couple of years updating every major version, when either Qcom or the OEMs updates it, since 2019.
Project Treble is a nice thing. But this seems does not help too much later, still stuck updating old stuff (especially old SoC with old kernel version).
New state: But things got changed. According to Android Common Kernel from Google. Kernel LTS support is a big step forward that allows SoCs and OEM manufacturers to access receiving Android patches to everyone (its up to it), plus eligible to upgrade every major version of Android (starts from Android 12 up to Android 17 in 5.10 kernel) regardless the Kernel LTS versions support isn't at EOL.
This is a QOL feature, improve security and performance, and it encourages OEMs to update even more device running 5.10-android Kernel. Like Samsung, takes a lot of advantage on it to make their phones updated to 7+ years or even more.

From Qualcomm website:
"What this means is that support for platform software included in this program will be made available to OEMs for eight consecutive years, including both Android OS and kernel upgrades, without requiring significant changes or upgrades to the platform and OEM code on the device (a separation commonly referred as “Project Treble” or the “vendor implementation”). While kernel changes will require updating kernel mode drivers, the vendor code can remain unchanged while the software support is being provided. This software support can lower costs for OEMs interested in supporting their devices longer and can show consumers the advantages of Snapdragon mobile processors and software support."
This sounds like they are complying with not so recent GKI stuff where proprietary vendor lib/blobs can be put in frozen state and does not require updating while the rest of Android part can be continually updated. Doesn't really guarantee that Qualcomm will update their proprietary lib/blobs that has been the usual headache like Adreno drivers.
Then again it's Qualcomm, the one that vowed to bring supposedly universal solution in updating Adreno driver, only to end up being optional to OEM. Didn't even learn why reference Snapdragon Gaming reference phone flopped (left partner to support the device alone hence quarterly update) and device-specific Snapdragon X1 driver for Windows. Then again they have been doing this for a long time, starting with Atheros WLAN cards and then locked out Cambridge Silicon Radio Bluetooth SDK behind a developer account (the SDK was easily obtainable before being acquired by Qualcomm)

Anonymous, 26 Feb 2025in 4 months, minimum of 5years will be mandatory in the EU.... moreWhere did you get this information?
Are we just supposed to believe some random annonymous non-registered account by word that isn't even earned yet? That kind of support requirement seems VERY much aimed at Chinese OEMs and will start a SERIOUS trade war that'll also affect both sales, tax/tarriff income for the EU governing body as well as jobs.
Seems VERY foolish to be honest.
Also how does that affect Computers (Desktops/Laptops/Servers) and Tablets or hearing aid devices, what about braille devices - both personal and corporate use, what about rugged devices for regional and local emergency services deployments (Fire, Police, Ambulance)?
Does their in vehicle computing devices have such a requirement?
how out of date are ALL these above current deployments.
Laptops and Desktops used by corporations or for personal use are typically 3yrs - 1yr with a 2yr extension that is paid.
Asus is the only OEM that ships laptops with 2yrs standard thta I'm aware of.
Lenovo ThinkPads, HP EliteBooks [and formerly Z Books] are 1yr with 2yr+ add-ons.

If only more smartphone brands embrace USB3 with wired video output and Desktop Mode support, especially on midrange phones. Smartphone SoCs nowadays, even on midrange tiers, are more than powerful to be a legit pocket PC.
