    MhJiko, 27 Feb 2025Google released Android 15 on September 03, 2024 for Develo... moreI believe one ui is better optimized than any other skins and it is also more feature rich, too. however, this is still a way too big gap as you mentioned. the main reason could be a marketing strategy to leave the new features exclusive to the newest flagship as long as possible. obviously, s25 series have no upgrades over s24 or even s23 in terms of hw. 95% of the "new features" will land on the older ones, too.

              "Xiaomi" released HyperOS 2 update based on Android 15 in the month of November 2024 for their older devices.
              "Vivo" released Funtouch OS 15 update based on Android 15 in mid-January 2025 for their older devices.
              "Oppo" released ColorOS 15 update based on Android 15 in the month of November 2024 for their older devices.
              So what takes the mighty Samsung 8 months to release an update for the extremely powerful S24 Ultra?

I already hated Fairphone since they weren't truly fair and open, but now that I know they aren't even delivering on updates I hate them more!

If you want a more detailed explanation I posted one right before this comment already, but basically Samsung is artificially delaying these updates or not even delivering them

                                        DarlingYext, 26 Feb 2025So it takes a huge company like Samsung more than half a ye... moreWithout getting too technical (I'm a Android custom ROM developer), Samsung *absolutely* can deliver One UI 7 faster. Android 15 didn't require many if any at all changes to device trees (sort of like config files) coming from Android 14, and even phones as far back as the S9 can run Android 15 very well! Samsung's too lazy to be consistent and put effort into delivering updates for their devices, and Qualcomm does the same things too in regards to not supporting perfectly capable hardware for as long as they should be.
                                        Samsung doesn't need to make changes to OneUI itself to make it work on older devices, in fact all they would need to do is spend 15 minutes at most tweaking config files in order to be able to give a older device a newer Android version.
                                        This all applies to most other companies too. The ones that don't allow you to unlock your bootloader (among others) are the most guilty when it comes to this, since custom ROM developers like me can't even extend the support for a device longer unless we find a exploit :/
