AnonD-1187531, 27 Feb 2025You're clearly obsessed with Exmor-T sensors. Take... moreSame performance with smaller size, less heat generated, slimmer bump, more space for other components like larger cooling system and battery.

Tell me how this is not good for client.

More benefit than having 1% APL 3000 nits when entire screen will not pass 1200.

David 040882, 27 Feb 2025But will you get the same result? Cause after all, accordin... moreA common misunderstanding that is often repeated by the media.
No, larger sensor does not automatically mean more light. A sensor can only capture the light that goes through the lens. A large sensor + a lens with an effective lens diameter of 1cm captures the same amount of light per exposure time from the moon as a small sensor+ lens with an effective lens diameter of 1cm. If the same lens is used, then the larger sensor would capture more light per time, yes, but the additional light would be solely due to the light that comes from the additional field of view. You don't capture more light per time from an object that is in the center of the frame. So, for example the new Canon PowerShot V1, which is misleadingly advertised by the media due to its large sensor, is theoretically actually worse than a Canon G7x III.

A large sensor can capture more light from an object (not light per time) at base Iso because a for example 40mm f/4 lens (effective diameter= 10mm) on a full frame camera can choose a longer exposure time without overexposure than a for example 20mm f/2 lens (effective diameter=10mm) on a micro four thirds camera. But it doesn't not capture more light per exposure time from an object. Furthermore, this base Iso advantage of larger sensors isn't necessarily relevant due to exposure bracketing. Furthermore, there are sensors that can choose a longer exposure time without overexposure due to a different technology.

Honestly I'm glad I picked up a 14 Ultra in January. I don't feel like there is as big of an upgrade here. The 3x and 5x lenses have the perfect reach, they didn't need to shorten them. I only expected some bigger sensors on them and a better ultrawide but the changes aren't really that substantial. But I'm sure the new 100mm periscope lens will perform spectacularly. Will be holding on to my 14 Ultra for another year

vik457, 27 Feb 2025Yeah jn5 or ov50m for front camBro... Why are you always raising the OV50M in the comments? 😭

vik457, 27 Feb 2025The problem with assesing it is that no phone used it yet.Probably because the OV50M is not exactly tailored as a selfie cam. The JN5, being smaller, does help keep the punchole upfront smaller. Or, well, help in general by not taking up too much space
