A blunder on Apple's part, it even stopped receiving revenue from McSafe-compatible accessories for this model.

Anonymous, 1 hour agoApple should better explain why they charge flagship prices... moreGalaxy S25 Ultra user here - couldn't care less about Apple, but I am really curious where you pulled that information from given that it uses basically the same SoC as the standard 16 model.

The phone doesn't have magsafe for two reasons:
1. Because then the phone would be more expensive to manufacture and it would eat into Apple's profit margin from the phone.
2. Because Apple wants you to buy the regular iPhone 16 for the magsafe, among other things, which is why they priced the 16e so close to the regular 16.
Here, I saved you the waste of time reading this article, you're welcome.

Okay, and who is going to use all the power that this undoubtedly basic phone has? They could've easily just put an A16 in this thing and be done with it and explain it the same way they explained the lack of MagSafe.
Oh, and if the target audience of this phone doesn't need wireless charging then why does it have it?

Amazing.

The main reason to not include MagSafe is to push people to a more expensive phone tier—just pay a little more to get MagSafe and better camera. So, this is not cost cutting. This is price/feature anchoring to pump up sales of more expensive models: you put an inferior product for just a little less money next to a much better product for a little more money and comparison is obvious.

Anonymous, 5 hours agoHow about 𝓷𝓸 𝓸𝓹𝓲𝓷𝓲𝓸𝓷 when writing news? Not everything need... moreFact that you post comments aka your opinions whil criticizing a writer with honest opinions is textbook hypocrisy.
It's an article, not a news post. It has comment section, meaning the whole point is for people to talk about it and share their opinions.
Now you've got all the rights to disagree but you have no business telling someone to not share what they think.

It's the same way Samsung removed Bluetooth from the s pen, because users 'werent using it'. Yet people act like apple is the only one doing things like this. Samsung's design has been the same since the s22. They're clearly falling into the same gutter as apple.

So Apple claims the iPhone 16e's target audience 'exclusively' uses wired charging. That's a bold generalization. Honestly, I'm not surprised they're cutting corners.
Wireless charging, let's be real, is more gimmick than necessity. It generates excessive heat, the efficiency is abysmal, and the charging speeds can be painfully slow depending on the device.
Sticking a cable in? Hardly a Herculean task.
That said, for the price Apple charges for this 16e, they could have at least included the MagSafe magnets.

sa11oum, 5 hours agoOk but Samsung didn't even put it in the 1300$ S25 Ultra soNobody in the right mind has ever accused Samsung of making vluable flagships. Why are you dragging another poorly priced product in, just to justify an even worse value proposition.
"Well here's something worse so the former is not that bad" is a very poor argument.
