Honor Magic 7 Pro being more expensive than S25U and 16 Pro Max. Last years Magic 6 Pro was cheaper than this year Magic 7 Pro, but still more expensive than S24U and 15 Pro Max. Also the newly realised Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 phones (this Nothing 3a series, Redmi Note 14 Pro+ and realme 14 Pro+) are more expensive than the A56. You can even buy cheaper the opened box S24 FE (it's now avaible for 490 USD). While the Redmi Note 14 Pro+, realme 14 Pro+ and Nothing Phone 3a Pro can be your for just 588 USD. A56 costs 503 USD. Speaking of prices ... iPhone 16e 128 GB can be yours for just 713 USD.

Always upd... moreAgain an even more narrow minded comment based on all the reasons I listed in my previous comment and also even more narrow minded based on your example about a customer upgrading from a Oneplus 13 to a Oneplus 14. This is definitely not necessary and I never mentioned this.

    You're only looking at people who upgrade from flagship to flagship. What about someone upgrading from dumb phone to budget, or budget to mid range.

    This should have been pretty obvious from the last comment I made. I used my Oneplus One for 5 years until the battery used to run out midday.

            Everything you've listed I agree with you but unfortunately it does come down to one simple thing that you correctly mentioned which is 'vote with your wallet' and this is what people are not doing enough.

            When you say the world has gone crazy it already was but after seeing the behaviour of people after the 5090 launch was absolutely disgusting.

            The reason why is not because of the scalping or lack of stock, its because there were people who don't vote with their wallet. I've seen and heard stories of people wanting to pay more than 5000 USD for that piece of garbage knowing full well about the burning cables and missing ROPs. Yes the world has gone insane. You are right here.

            Imagine having a 4090 with 24gb vram and crying for not getting a 5090 that has 32gb vram. As the saying goes 'the things you own, own you'

              There was no change over the years.
              Youtube today is not more demanding than it was before to run.

              Person gets an OP13 today, than in January gets OP14. How is it necessary?
              Phone with latest SoC could not handle Instagram, Tiktok, facebook, telegram, youtube, duolingo, netflix?

Plus S... moreThat Exynos 1580 and UFS 3.1 storage also have the massive disadvantage of being bogged down by One UI. The A56 and A36 will probably get 3 years max before they're basically unusable, just like how pretty much every other A series has fared since the beginning of the A series

                  The 3a is superior compared to the A36 without a doubt. It's all good (but I won't buy it beacsue the ultrawide camera doesn't support 1080p 60fps), albeit for the obviously significantly worse update support (but still decent, 3 os updates and 4 year security updates). It's undoubtedly better than the Realme 14 Pro which lacks an ultra wide and still uses the Dimensity 7300, and the Redmi Note 14 Pro which lacks the telephoto, has 7300 and comes with last year's software.

                  The 3a Pro, on the other hand, has quite generic specs for a price similar to that of the Realme. The chip should've been a Snapdragon 7 Gen 3, which is not too much better than 7s Gen 3, but that's still an improvement - it's like D7200 Vs 7350 comparison. Plus, it's still using UFS 2.2 when the 14 Pro+ uses 3.1. Why?

                  There's three things going for it - 1 more year of updates (Vs 2 os updates and 3 year security updates for Realme 14 Pro+ - why did they downgrade it from 12 Pro+???), that design and the Essential Space thing (looks cool! Wish they could bring it to older devices via power button double click)

                  In conclusion:
                  3a: Good!
                  3a Pro: Meh

                    Customers might value memories so they want a better camera.
                    Maybe they do a lot of travelling and want something that has water and dust resistance.
                    Maybe they've notices that the speed of their phone is slowing down because apps keep updating and get more complex so they need a faster chip.
                    Maybe their battery is draining quickly after all the software and app updates.
                    Maybe they want faster charging as some phones have 5000mah batteries with only 15w of charging
                    Maybe they take long commutes so want to take advantage of 5g and want to watch content on a 1080p OLED screen instead of a 720p LCD.

                    There's so much more that I can list and this is coming from someone who is a basic user. I might not care about the camera much on a phone but there's loads of people who want the best snapshots which is why everyone can criticise Pixels for being overpriced but people will go out of their way to spend their money just for the camera alone.

                    If none of us needed to upgrade then we'd all be using 3310s

But buying the products and continuing to support the companies' poor decisions online with the horrendous takes that these fanboys have is what makes you a bad person. Not only are you harming yourself but you're also harming others and the market in general by accepting the downgrades and making them normalized.

                            Samsung's already taking out features from their Ultras, Google's raised the bar of greediness on the android front with a 1k+ dollar flagship that comes with a UFS 3.1 128 gb base version.

                            And i think you're just having tunnel vision, i personally have faced the "X" from everyone, be it Apple, Google, Samsung, Xiaomi, Oppo or even my beloved Vivo's fanboys lol.

                            Anyways, i understand your take but the fact of the matter is there's nothing much you can do except for voting with your wallet.

                            For example : i've purchased an AMD GPU cus i just could not stomach NVIDIA's greediness, that too after the exceptional value that the GTX 1070 gave me. My 1070 died and i was in the market for a GPU and saw that the RTX 3070 was priced 20-30% higher than the 6700 XT, whereas a few months ago they were similarly priced with the 3070 being slightly more expensive, and to make it all worse, due to the horrible place the market was in, i was essentially getting the 6700 xt for somewhere between a 3080 and 3080 ti's price, and the 3070 was even more expensive! Ofc, im talking about the msrp/initial pricing of the gpus in my place, but you get the picture. I think AMD's super greedy but NVIDIA's just on another level, at least with the artificial GPU shortages and price hikes. Crazy time then bro, and it's even more depressing to see that NVIDIA's still doing it with the 5070 ti and AMD's just not taking the chance and going at the same pace as before. One's incompetent and greedy the other's disgustingly greedy. I chose the lesser of the two evils.

                            Another example can be seen with my phone, it's the first time im using a phone for more than 2 years, i was thinking of getting the 15 Ultra but these disgusting people just icked me out with their deceptive marketing. Don't get me wrong, I think the 15 Ultra is the best phone available out right now, but im not gonna support the company's awful marketing practices like lying about the zoom cam's native focal length. The camera is the main selling point of the phone and they're lying about it this year, they lied about it before too but i didn't know back then. And now it just disgusts me. What even is the point when you already have the best cameraphone on the market? Losing their good faith for no reason.

Here in the US, phone 3a is cheaper than the A36, and 3a Pro is cheaper than the A56. Both phones are definitly a better deal compared to the samsung competition, especially in the camera department. They only slightly fall behind in performance compared to the A56

This is a real issue where companies are outright screwing the consumer when they sell products that require the need to upgrade after a set amount of time. Two that you mentioned which are phones and graphics cards. These products on average get upgraded about every 2-3 years by the average consumer.

                                        Yes there are shills out there and corporate slaves which is bad as it is but then you have consumers where they need to upgrade. It's like how I was trying to move away from my Moto G82 and last year I saw all these new phones still using the Snapdragon 695, hence the nickname and my rants on smartphones over the past year. At some point I needed to upgrade and the Nothing 2a was an option that fit my requirements.

                                        Same with graphics cards. Imagine being still stuck on a 1080ti. These customers want to move away from this card but Nvidia haven't given them an option which is why everyone was hoping for a good price for the 9070xt.

                                        Fanboy's are the worst though. These forums are a good example. Everyone here can criticize Android phones with no issue but if you say one bad thing about the iPhone 16e you'll get that big red 'X' next to your comment.
