BlackBerry Q10 cited to be a commercial failure by retailers

30 August, 2013
Looks like more bad news for BlackBerry as the Q10 isn't selling as much as they'd hope it would.

BB and HTC common failure denominator = Pricing

People today want value for their hard-earned money.

In my experience in the UK retailers have not been particularly good at highlighting the strengths of the Q10. The price of the Q10 has of course also been an issue but the keypad design does have advantages in on the go productivity with emailing, texting and other text based input activities.

Mark, 30 Aug 2013I think Blackberry can still produce QWERTY phones but dist... moreI totally agree with Mark. I love the QWERTY of BB, the Q10 is just too expensive. Touch screen typing when you're in a hurry is a real pain. I can even type with it without looking at the screen. There's a lot of interest in the much more affordable Q5 here in Asia.

I am blackberry user since 2007. and yes I would like to buy one if it is not expensive. how can they charge this device $700?! If it is $300 it will go like hot cakes.
People need good qwerty device, and q10. But not as good as flagship of Sony and Samsung (or even Apple) in terms of hardware. OS10 is ok either, but they loose their customer base because the removed BIS security and flatrate internet traffic from portfolio.

I think Blackberry can still produce QWERTY phones but distribute it only in selected markets. Possible that it doesn't appeal to Canadian/American customers anymore, but here in my country (Asian region), there are people are still into BB's QWERTY device and would buy Q10 instead of Z10. They say that if they will buy a Z10 then they'll just opt for another phone like Android or iPhone. But with BB, they're after its great QWERTY keyboard because it's their trademark.

I hope BB wouldn't completely drop QWERTY devices. It's possibly the lack of innovation that's causing both their phones to fail and not the keyboard. They can add very unique features in their BB phones (may it be full screen or QWERTY) that will bring customers back. And they probably need to hire a new marketing team.

They should have priced it a lot lower in the first place. With cheap droids from other OEM's and the budget wp's of nokia. Almost no one would want to spend a flagship amount for the Q10.

BB10 is good, but we don't want a keyboard. We want a big screen... and a good one. The A10/Z30 will not be welcome...

I'd gladly pay 300€ for an unlocked Q10 immediately. Physical qwerty is still the best input mode.
                      But c'mon, 575€ ???
