16 March 2025
It beats the iPhone SE from 2022 by a landslide.

Darth Caesium, 8 hours agoOmniVision's OV64B sensor is absolutely amazing for pe... more50 Ultra is only moto to have 64b. It does not use 2x2 ocl , reason it was better for digital zoom compated to lyt600.

Problem is even if you use dng, files out of those 13mp are lame. Lots of noise , no matter if you on purpose increase exposure to later bring down to let more light in.

Ov50a is basically 2x larger than jn1, but does not give files more than 20-25% better. 40 neo has mediatek, so another issue . ISP quality is far behind Qualcomm's Spectra

It is not surprising 50, 50 fusion , 50 neo all have lyt700 instead of new ov50e.

I hope 60 Ultra earns new sony 50mp 1/1.3 that replaces lyt818.

SE 3 had sense with compact body, small screen and home button, but this one is just one overpriced cr.ap.

I've been writing this for 5+ years and it will continue to baffle this forum because many of you underestimate the role psychology plays on consumer behavior.

Simply put, Apple's brand appeal is unmatched. That's why their products have leverage with average consumers over products with arguably better specs.

If it was sold for considerably less, for the majority only the 60Hz display would be a problem.

But being sold at this extortionately high price, most things apart from the chip, durability and front camera are a problem.

        - Rear camera performance is heavily overexaggerated. I think that it's pretty self explanatory. Androids in the same price range will obliterate this phone's single camera.
        - Wireless charging is reduced to a measly 7.5 Watts, rendering it practically useless
        - Even wired charging is still really slow compared to competition
        - The OLED is still only 60Hz; Apple is gatekeeping higher refresh rates to "force" some people to buy their more expensive pro models so that they make more money
        - Storage upgrades are still expensive as hell
        - Still USB 2.0! Even the S8 from 2017 has USB 3.1, which is a lot better
        - The battery life is nowhere near as good as advertised; just look at this website's active use score. It gets only 11:53h whereas the base iPhone 16 is getting 15:42h.
        - Apple Intelligence *cough cough* I think we all know what I mean.

There are lots of other things that are bad about this phone considering the price it is being sold at, such as the thick bezels. Not to mention that they won't tell you that the A18 chip in this phone is the runt of the litter, as it has 1 less GPU core. This does affect its performance in some scenarios, such as in Wild Life Extreme where it was beaten by even the iPhone 14.

For the price, it's basically a scam. Reduce the price by some margin, and it would be a more palatable option.

Especially in its current form. Not sure if one day it’ll be gold standard of mobile AI or not, but this roll out has been an unmitigated disaster….

Everyone who bought this phone are basically the people who know Apple's current products, but otherwise are a know-nothing.

No thanks. I won't pay Apple any cent. Only thing I use is Shazam app which is owned by Apple.

Aside from pricing, people loved the glory days OnePlus bcs OOS was consistent and had its own identity.

According to whose data, Apple's? There's far too much Samsung & Apple bias/favoritism on this site. They both are leagues behind some of the other innovative brands banned from the US. To be honest, I value the reviews & updates. However, the Samsung & Apple bias is a bit much. We all know they both suck!

                        Are people still buying crapiphones?

Darth Caesium, 8 hours agoOmniVision's OV64B sensor is absolutely amazing for pe... moreAnd the sensor was actually sk hynix sensor, not ov13b.

Just saying it again, people, there are some target demographics and target market that need/want/prioritize iOS over anything else or at least, the tech nerds/communities must-list of features (just like those who prefer 3D face unlock+Fingerprint solution over smaller punch hole, MicroSDXC card support over beast of a performance, and so on). As long it works for them, it's enough for them, so I can understand why this happened and displeased people here due to 16e skewed too-high of a price.

As someone who had iPhone XR, I understand people. Also 1 camera isn't necessarily bad. You just don't think about it whether you want wide or regular shot, you just snap it. No fiddling and thinking. It was simpler times compared to 3 cameras on my S23 Ultra now and not in a bad way...

                                Sad day for humanity.

This phone is 300 dollars overpriced. It is crazy that people will but this excuse of a phone over an One plus 13.

That's your decision to miss out on useful features, but that's exactly what $100-200 phones are for, this device at $600 should offer those features to justify the price. No, Apple "Intelligence" is not enough.

Anonymous, 8 hours ago40 Neo was announced for 400 euros in 2023. If I am not w... moreOmniVision's OV64B sensor is absolutely amazing for periscopes. They're not always great, but they can occasionally produce really good sensors. Motorola's camera processing is still not great at times, so it might not make the OV64B sensor shine as well as it should, but the processing has nonetheless improved enough that it takes mostly great pictures.

As for the rest, you're right unfortunately. The Edge 60 and Edge 60 Neo losing their telephotos would be a serious blow to their value proposition, but quite some rumours are claiming this so it's sadly likely to be true.
