Cpt.Power, 20 Mar 2025Bro dont get mad there are already several wireless chargin... moreActually speed has nothing to do with charging efficiency, wireless charging is at the moment less efficient the wired charging as a lot of energy gets wasted through heat. Those 100w wireless chargers are most probably very fast throttling to somwhere 15w if not less because of heat and risk of explosion, so the 100 is for the show, pretty much like everything chinese. Apple devices are really not good at wireless charging with their 7.5 w and a tone of heat, people complain about. They tried to fix the eficiency via magnets that theorethicaly should align the coils perfectly, yet then there comes the case inbetween wasting even more energy, To understand better a 12.000mah wireless powerbank would probably manage to charge an iphone wirelessly once, and twice via usb c.

Zendroid, 19 Mar 2025EU should just stop themselves. First forcing type c, to le... moreForcing a company, that wants to make everything proprietary, to use standards is one, forcing a company to use something they do not want to use or need, a thing that would probably be a case for apple if lawsuits are to be filed, is a totaly different thing, the idea behind standard accross tech is to reduce ewaste not to make ewaste, so the second crapple case if their should be a law suit, would be the fact that by eliminating the port, they reduced a lot of waste, if you understand this, you understand why EU cannot do much here. And let's not forget wireless charging is in smartphones for over 13 years starting with nokia lumia, and already has standards. Surely crapple invested a lot of time in the recent standards, now we know why. They want to controll the standards so much, they finaly got a way in. But hey maybe is not all gone. They might tough ask for a premium in the near future for wireless using, tough standards are non profit as far as i know, but with crapple you never know.

DarlingYext, 19 Mar 2025So no more wired headphones/earphones, or wired data transf... moreWhen you, again, talk more then understand and blame the wrong people. EU can forcr a standard uppon some tech but they cannot force a company to use a port if it does not want too.
Wireless charging in phones started like 13 years ago with the lumia 920 and 820, so it is an established standard by now. So for you and other children here to understand, EU can force a company to use a standard port if a company wants to use a port, or a standard wireless charging method if the company wants to use wireless charging, but it cannot force the company to use wireless charging or charging ports if it does not want too. Sometimes people just feel the need to screem about stuff they do not understand to feel important....

theno35 , 20 Mar 2025What about lossless audio? I don't have an iPhone and ... moreAcrually most of the people do not own their phones, more like their phones owns them. There are phone companies that go to a very different direction, like fairphone or shift phone. No worries, their is a balance if people support it.

Anonymous, 20 Mar 2025How do I transfer files to my computer then?Well, not as if with apple you could do that easily. Then want your data on their cloud, so you pay for more storage, so they just crippled the way you transfer data from icrapp to a pc in such a way that nobody tought about it, so now they just remove the thing that bothered them the most, to pay for others port standards.

Port's are more preferable and it's convenient. I charge while traveling. Will it get lose and won't charge because I put my phone in my pant's pocket and walk.

I mean, as far as I can remember, when USB-C was formalized as a unified USB port in the EU region in 2020, the option on having a portless device without the mandatory USB-C charging option open at the same time as well, although it may been regulated later on.

Forcing apple to change from lightning citing ewaste is just bad loser behavior to begin with. No other company even demod something like LIAM that recycle robot as did Apple and lightning had been around since iPhone 5. First reversible connector en masse. They don’t talk about most Android phones not receiving even security patches after a couple years and customers are the force to buy new devices if they don’t want remote code executed on their phones. One such phone has equivalent material of for how many of those lightning cables ? Good for Apple to give EU the finger to go port less

What about lossless audio? I don't have an iPhone and I don't intend to, but in the future this will likely come to android devices too.
Sideloading? Jailbreaking? Dead.
We will no longer own our phones.

Good that Mark Gurman's stupid propaganda fake news got corrected. In the current geopolitical landscape Mark Gurman's statements are very dangerous and have seriously bad runaway effects. As a journalist he should fact check before he publishes wrong information based on hearsay

Port-less? I don't like this idea. Connecting everything via wireless is not ideal, and in fact, wireless charging is less efficient and puts more strain on a battery than corded charging. Apple should consider this carefully before jumping in with both feet... but likely will not.

Wireless charging remains too slow and generates excessive heat for daily. Consider the scenario you use Android Auto/CarPlay and need to charge your phone simultaneously. This is a common situation that most people encounter. Compare the phone's temperature after 30 minutes of wired and wireless charging; a wirelessly charged phone operates at least 5°C higher temperatures. Wireless charging is only OK for casual use or overnight charging.
Not to mention, some people still want to use the physical port to export data and back-up purposes.
