Anonymous, 22 Mar 2025Unnecessary phones just to have useless SoC overclock. Appears to be the case.

DeepIn2U, 23 Mar 2025They do. OnePlus had the Ace 5 n 5 Pro. How are 6.7" devices compact?

jiyen235, 22 Mar 2025smaller phones are more expensive to produce/have lower mar... moreFalse.

Apples 22 mini n 13 mini had higher margins than even their respective pro models.

                Components used & their costs,
Freight n shipping costs if by weight not volume,
Number of units produced in a model range or series of components shared,
                Marketing costs,

All contribute to sales margins after the sell price is set, BUt said price SHOULD be based on. Size of the product doesn't come into affect unless shipping costs ans how that's factored affects expenses.

OnePlus had the Ace 5 n 5 Pro.

Jujujij, 22 Mar 2025They're not owned by bbk anymore, but oppo is its own ... moreAhhh, I didn't know that. It would be a gamble for me buying a Vivo from overseas, as VoLTE might not work here (Australia). Is AliExpress the only place to buy them online?

jiyen235, 22 Mar 2025it'll be cheaper for the flagship but for a midranger ... moreI've heard somewhere (probably this website) that vivo might considering making a 6,3" midrange soon in the future. What I just hope is once it's actually existed, I just hope that it sold well so it can pushes another manufacturer to release something similar.
(Yeah I call it 6,3", because I refuse to call it "compact").

Still doesn't had LTPO & USB 3.2 which is useless update 🤮

jiyen235, 22 Mar 2025it'll be cheaper for the flagship but for a midranger ... moreDCS says the next Vivo S series will get a compact screen phone anyway. Can't remember if he specified the size though

Aierlan, 22 Mar 2025When Xiaomi was the only Chinese brand launching 6.3" ... moreit'll be cheaper for the flagship but for a midranger they'd still need to make a new display, body, etc. Look at how many midrangers there are, all of em have basically interchangeable stuff. Same displays, cameras, speakers, vibration motors, etc. being used, all to save costs.

It took this long for the flagships to become compact-sized, i highly doubt the midrange will follow suit. Even Apple struggles to make a decent profit (for them at least) on their compact phones compared to their flagship ones. Just look at the component prices and you'll know.

jiyen235, 22 Mar 2025smaller phones are more expensive to produce/have lower mar... moreWhen Xiaomi was the only Chinese brand launching 6.3" phones that is what they claimed as separate production lines had to be run for the Xiaomi 13 and the Xiaomi 14. However with all the Chinese brands now launching smaller phones and some midrangers even getting them e.g. the next Vivo s series they will become cheaper to make. The x8s will definitely not be more expensive than the x8 and x8s+ anyway. If anything it'll be slightly cheaper.

Any of the Chinese brands could have undercut the 6.1" Samsung flagship but they didn't, which was a wasted opportunity imo.
