Larger phones are plentiful so they can just slap the display/body/skeleton from other phones to save money but smaller phones are special so they need to have unique everything.

Might be slightly cheper. Remember the dimensity 9400+ is basically the same as the dimensity 9400 with a small bit higher clock speed. Chips get cheaper over time and when the dimensity 9400 launched it was a next generation chip so it would have been expensive at launch. The find x8s will save a small bit of money on the telephoto as well by using a weaker telephoto sensor (jn5 probably). It's probably going to be positioned slightly lower than the find x8s+/x8 so might be a tiny bit cheaper but will be very close in price. I would guess it'll be 3,999rmb for 12gb 256gb and the x8s+ will be 4,299 (same as the launch price of the x8). Basically the x8s+ will probably replace the x8 in China as the x8 will probably stop production and just sell off the main stock. That's what usually happens with s models in China. The old model comes off the market very quickly. The x8 is now officially available for 3,799rmb (or 3,299rmb with the government subsidy) so value wise it makes sense to get that over the x8s+ now as battery capacity will be the only real upgrade and the dimensity 9400+ will probably have worse efficiency anyway due to the overclocking. There's basically no way the x8s though will be more expensive than the x8 was at launch. At the very worst it would be the same price but possibly 100-300rmb cheaper

When does Samsung learn from Chinese companies.

I was hoping that the X8S might be a smaller and cheaper version of the X8, but if it's got a slightly newer chip, it may be more expensive.

It's great that Oppo and OnePlus (13T) are releasing 6.3" devices to cater for users wanting smaller displays, but why not offer midrangers in this size too?

with the new silicon-carbon batteries these smaller phones might finally become more mainstream

Hoping this will launch in the Philippines.
