Hope the pre-processing ISP allows it to have better shutter lag.
The sample looks good tho, far superior to the iPhone at the very least. The iPhone shot looks great in a vacuum, but im sure just like with all other iPhone/pixel/samsung shot, the actual color/feel of the scene is diminished. Only an SDR Pro mode shot properly captures the moment.
Thank goodness Vivo finally has a sharpness slider, -50 on the sharpness, -20 on the exposure and -10-ish on the saturation should make these photos look spectacular. The sample looks good already but it could be a little less "artificial".

AlexandrePG, 27 Mar 2025I don't know why putting so much effort in image proce... moreThe X200pro might me a main sensor downgrade, for sure. But it's not the case for the X200 Ultra. To cover a 1" sensor , the 35mm equivalent lens should be gigantic, or the aperture should be kept too small.
a 23mm 1" sensor then cropped to 35mm equivalent, would have the diagonal of 1/1.5, so smaller than the x200U.
Not to forget that the ultrawide now is a 1/1.28 too. It would mean that this phone will have no "secondary camera". All 3 lenses are supposed to be excellent! And I recognize that the 35mm makes much more sense to me as a general purpose lens. It has much less distorsion than the usual 23mm.

Why do they need such chips for pre and post processing? Isn't the Snapdragon 8 Elite's own ISP and NPU good enough? Adding more chips to the process might introduce more latency and give worse performance.

AntonelPAPI, 27 Mar 2025Then you upload these photos or videos to social media, and... moreOn YouTube, a video recorded in excellent quality preserves it.
And in photography, whenever the website allows it, I upload photos in the highest quality format possible, and if you select the parameters carefully, almost no one notices any degradation in the photos.
The higher the quality of the source photograph, the less the degradation.
We're looking at a device that will be exceptional in many aspects of photography, and perhaps in that area it will be the best until another better one comes along later.

I don't know why putting so much effort in image processing and even innovating with a bonkers flash module, to then downgrade the image sensor. They can call it an improvement all they want, but no sensible person will believe that an improvement is due to the sensor change, and it's still to be seen if there is any improvement, but I think the X200 Pro performance already showed it pretty well. Vivo is shooting itself in the foot here to save 30 bucks, that the customer probably wouldn't mind paying extra anyways.

Then you upload these photos or videos to social media, and they look like they were taken with a Nokia from the 2000s, haha, since iOS integrates better with social media than Android. That's why you see your favorite YouTuber unboxing your favorite Chinese phone from an iPhone, haha. If not, ask any vlogger or influencer what they prefer when recording their content and uploading it to social media.
