Those don't support higher codecs than AAC and I keep having connection issues with them. Not nearly as bad as what they replaced mind you but it's still bad enough that I only really use them as ANC earmuffs (shame because they're otherwise great).
And actually I've found the DAC in my current phone to be perfectly fine for what it's made for. I doubt it'll drive HD600s, but if I had HD600s I'd have a desktop amp to drive them. No perceptible noise floor either even when maxing out ultra high sensitivity IEMs (don't do this). I don't see the problem with it, especially when the 24bit@192khz is more than enough for most music available anyway. Even older phones with 3.5mm ports in them weren't that bad.

AAC has good enough quality, saves battery power, and survives much better to distance and interference in crowded spaces. Usually the smartphone and headphones are smart enough to change the codec in real-time before anything is noticeable, don't know why it happens in your case.
Btw, given the choice between a crappy low-cost DAC and some proper bluetooth headphones with ANC, even with all the limitations of bluetooth, there is a clear winner there for mobility.

Alternatively we can d... moreTwo things can be true at the same time: a reasonable baseline DAC can be expected at this price point and it shouldn't be necessary to buy an adapter or a second device because they chose not to include it to save a negligible manufacturing cost.
From experience inbuilt DACs have generally been good enough for portable music anyway, headphones that need tons of power generally aren't suited for portable use anyway.

Thankfully managed to get my money back on the ones that didn't work but I decided I never wanted to deal with that problem again.
Not doing it for the audio quality anyway, that doesn't really make sense in a portable environment, I'm doing it because it just works. Wireless can be really unreliable, and while I'm sure the DAC in my ZF10 (tbh don't really love it) isn't the best quality it's fine for IEMs through YouTube music. Past that point I couldn't care less.

I dont get these replies to my posts where i talk different things and nothing about bloatware but then get people talk about it.
Just like the other person talking about build quality while think about build materials and then talk also about the software in the mix that got zero business in build quality or materials used to construct the phone

Just buy more gadgets between your phone to have wired headphones.
For that 20-40 euro you can buy a mp3 player that have like 2 inch touchscreen on it and you dont need to connect it to a phone anymore. Just cant use the headphones for calls.
Same argument with no SD card where you can just use portable SSD or usb stick.
Both cases is add more gadgets that is not actually solving the issue

If we talk about build quality then lets talk about how a phone is constructed and not what software is installed on it and everything like that.
Build materials is a different story as metals make the phone more stronger then plastic but it wont change the method of how the phone is constructed that is the build quality as how well the phone is constructed.

Listening to music (or feeding it to a hifi system of any sort) doesn't consume more than any basic pass-through adapter would allow..e.g even if the use case is to use the phone as media player for long period of time it would not drain it..i think (?!? Might be wrong ofc)

1989, 31 Mar 2025Is there any dongle with charging that gives both the 3.5 a... moreThere are such (3.5mm + usbc charging) for 3-4€ too..ofc they don't have great DAC inside, but I'm using one like that and quality is almost there same as my inbuilt DAC in A52s.. it's not audiophile, but absolutely usable.
For dongle/cable adapter with a great DAC and 3.5mm out - sure such do exist.. I've seen with all kind of dacs - CL, ESS,etc.. those devices range from 20 till open end prices, you will definitely find something that matches your needs.
Without charging pass through - jcally jm20, fiio KA11,KA15... Etc. there was a great discussion about those under Poco X7 Pro chat/opinions, some guys were very helpful and provided tons of models and ideas.. just give it a search
