Weekly poll: what do you think of the Poco F7 Pro and Poco F7 Ultra?

30 March 2025
The brand's first-ever Ultra phone is its best-equipped yet - and the priciest too. Even the Pro got a price bump. Are the Poco F phones still worth it?

Too many compromises made compared to their Redmi K80 Chinese versions, making the X7 (Pro) a far more bang for the buck proposition on Western markets...

PatrickCzech, 30 Mar 2025Overpriced. 849 euro for Poco? atleast it has a 120hz screen compared to the iphone 16 plus

Poco bloatware and design is just not for me...this is a heavly moded phone just for gamers i would prefer 14T pro just because of the better build quality and better camere...its a better overall phone than these 2

I really don't know what adds people talking about with xiaomi phones... I have 4 of them, 3 midrange and one flagship and none of them has problem with adds. When I bought them new, out of the box thry come with pre installed gsme and other apps (just like my flagship samsmung when it was new). I deleted all those apps and after that never had any issues or adds. The only add I have is when you choose wallpaper from their Xiaomi app and adter you finished choosing and adding wallpaper then you get one add and its already finished with adding wallpaper so I just close app and I don't see thst add at all. That is only time I see add on Xiaomi phones. There is the same thing I have adds on samsung apps when I open or want to close it, so its nothing new even with Samsung flagship phones. There is no other adds on Xiaomi or Samsung phones.

            Lol.

"Make it good instead of just another copy of the generic fruit phone."

Except both of them are already good. Way better than your generic overpriced fruit phone these days. Imagine spending $600 for an iCrap 16e with that 60Hz notched display, only one rear camera, painfully slow 20W charging, and miniscule 128GB storage, when you can just buy the much superior F7 Pro instead for $550.

They're both oversized slabs without basic hardware features. So, just like with all other phones these days, I don't give a flying flamingo about them.

I will only change my phone for something better. Not for an iterative version of it from another brand but with all the same dumb limitations.

The age when I would swap phones yearly is over.
Want me to buy your phone, make it good instead of just another generic copy of the garbage fruit phone.

I was very happy with Poco F1. Truly a flagship killer. Since then, there's no such thing. Poco is now yet another flagship, with corresponding price (You were the chosen one! It was said that you would destroy the Flagmans, not join them! Bring balance to the Pricing, not leave it in 4 digits!

No compelling reason to buy it. Plenty of similar options out there that offers better.
They're just aping oneplus now, but one plus has a mini phone now for a change.
Absence of the features that the original poco f1 offered, like ir front camera capable of ir photography and face id in a totally lightless room, well placed physical fingerprint sensor, 3.5 mm headphone jack, a micro sd card slot etc etc that actually made it stand apart from the crowd, (even an ips lcd screen option without the annoying pwm flickering of newer screens) is something that would keep me away from pocophone f series. They don't really have any individuality...
For instance, Asus had the zenfone like of mini phones. Xperia 1 series still offers sd card slot and 3.5 mm headphone jack.
Any new feature added to poco's flagship is something you can find in any other android flagship. So I don't see any reason to buy it other than blind brand loyalty 😬

Anonymous, 30 Mar 2025Poco Ultra price will be about the same as the T-series of ... more*T Pro, to be exact.

Their biggest competition may well be their own X7 Pro.

The Dimensity 8400 Ultra in the X7 Pro can trade blows with the SD8 gen 3 in many parameters (loses in single core, but beats it in multi), so what are you paying more for really?

A jump from a mediocre+ main camera to a mid-ranger, plus a 12 mp ultra wide instead of an admittedly pretty poor 8 mp on the X7 Pro? Usually the main cam is wide enough anyway

It's close enough for the talent of the photographer to make a bigger difference comparing the main cameras of the two.

Personally I'd prefer to use a glass screen protector which isn't so great with an ultrasonic FP reader which is used in the F7 Pro, so there are even advantages there for me in the optical one in the X7 Pro.

                          Am I missing something important?

By all means, enlighten me, but so far in these rough times, the X7 seems to be better value to me so far.

Kurokaze, 30 Mar 2025The F7 Ultra can be bought for 560 Euros at most. Not in Czechia. Chinese phones are overpriced here. Vivo v50 costs 50% more than A56 and Xiaomi 15 Ultra costs more than S25 Ultra and 16 Pro Max.

Anonymous, 30 Mar 2025Cope harder, Apple fanboy.I can't see an Apple logo on my Samsung. BTW even the S25 is cheaper here in Czechia. All Chinese phones are overpriced here.

I just can't look at this F7 series, when X7 pro is now 300€, and the difference is basically just in camera. I didn't mention soc, cause X7 pro has far better thermal management, and dimensity 8400 scored stability of 75%, far better than on F7 series.

I will wait for Xiaomi 15t Pro, it will probably be priced at 550/600 euro early bird price and 100 euro trade bonus. But honestly it might be better to either get poco f7 pro at 430 euro with student discount and save a lot or pays double and get the Xiaomi 15 at 800 euro student discount and avoid devices priced in the middle.

Or just wait for Xiaomi 16 with Snapdragon Elite gen 2 next year 🤣🤣 as it probably have 30 extra performance and keep the phone for the next 6 years ⚡🔥

pl2rts, 30 Mar 2025Why i got F5 two years ago was cause it was still in the ra... moreThe Poco X7 Pro doesn't come with a charger, so you won't benefit from the 90W HyperCharge.

Xiaomi made a very stupid decision not to include an original charger in the retail box. But sure, the phone is worth buying for its raw power contra price.

I also never will understand the talk about ads. I have had 2 Xiaomi phones as first one from 2018 as Redmi note series phone that i used for 5 years and never had any ads to care about. As i dont use the apps or never open the apps that are Xiaomi apps.

Now also with Poco F5 for 2 years i have not seen any ads so i dont understand the talk about it.

Ads problem would be for me when i open a phone settings and am forced to watch ads or something doing in the phone. Like doing offline things and then phone force me to turn on network cause the phone wants to show me ads to get me a next page button or something.

The experience is no different then i have had with other phones or tablets with Android

I even had custom rom on Nexus 7 tablet and the experience was no different
