IEatIron, 03 Apr 2025couldn't they just call it the snapdragon 8s elite?According to a Chinese video about 8s gen 4's SoC specs it's lower than 8 Elite but a bit higher than 8 gen 3 so they just ended up calling it 8s gen 4 and not Elite.

now i'm confused, thinking of cancelling my F7 Pro order and just wait for phones with 8s Gen 4, this chipset looks a lot better than the sdgen3 and its newer too

I told you so
Literally right up to the very end every rumour/ leak / prediction/ is now proven wrong
All well intentioned comments on those rumours are also wrong.
This Qualcomm ’s specs announcement is materially different to those posted in tweets (and not an apology or explanation as to why so wrong.)
The outstanding Antutu score prediction is wait & see, aka Goldilocks
It may be over
It may be under
It won't be just right.
A few comments "criticise" Qualcomm naming convention, so far I haven't found any issues Architecture & Cortices.
Finally I repeat in part from my earlier post the next Oryon flagship SoC will be totally renamed (like Apple) and WON'T use "Elite", as in Elite 2???
You're either ELITE or you are not.
So without posting this prediction on Twitter, the reason is simple Elite 2 means Elite was a work in progress.

Anonymous, 04 Apr 2025Honestly I don't understand how can this be true.
&qu... moreOk, I couldn't find any mention about the 39% better efficiency at Qualcomm's webpage.
So I will stick with only the official 31% higher performance.

Honestly I don't understand how can this be true.
"According to Qualcomm, the new chip is 31% faster than last year’s Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 while drawing 39% less power."
The performance increase let's say is doable by having a bit higher clocks and 2×A720 instead of 2x A-520.
But I don't understand how It can draw 39% less power? That basically means SD8s Gen 3 consumes 64% more despite them using the same process and the Gen4 having higher clocks and 2 more powerful cores.

Anonymous, 03 Apr 2025More big cores mean nothing if necessary power budget is no... morePower budget is kinda fixed. I think it will be slightly better in geekbench performance vs power graph cuz of 2×A720. Standy time might take a hit.

I Have Opinions, 03 Apr 2025Upgraded version of 8 gen 3? 8 Gen 3 had 2×A520 while this ... moreMore big cores mean nothing if necessary power budget is not given. They will either won't clock high or will struggle to maintain the frequency.
I'll Jljust wait and see, instead of any predictions.

I Have Opinions, 03 Apr 2025Upgraded version of 8 gen 3? 8 Gen 3 had 2×A520 while this ... moreMaybe we will know in the future what's the performance comparison vs the 8 gen 3
I also think that the 8s gen 4 has more powerful GPU than the GPU of 8 gen 3

403, 03 Apr 2025Bro's just bragging that he's on China at this po... moreI know globally they won't be that price in other markets but my point is that when phones like the Redmi Turbo 4 pro or Poco F7 are launched there will already be phones with snapdragon 8 Gen 3 or dimensity 9300+ that have dropped in price to a similar level as the newly launched phones with 8s gen 4. This applies to other markets outside China too. The price is the similar price rather than the actual price as the actual price varies by market.

"According to Qualcomm, the new chip is 31% faster than last year’s Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 while drawing 39% less power."
then sustained performance should be pretty high.
For comparison:
Poco F6 with SD8s Gen3 managed 83% for CPU and 77% for GPU.
Poco F6 Pro with SD8 Gen2 managed 75-81% for CPU.
Poco X7 Pro with 8400 Ultra managed a 73% for CPU and 77% for GPU.
Poco F7 Pro with SD8 Gen3 managed a ~80% for CPU and 57.6% for GPU.
Poco F7 Ultra with SD8 Elite managed a
