Yes, HTC still exists.

We'll have to wait the U series this year (the U25) to come to see a better-specced HTC smartphone this year than this one

The point is that HTC is not bothered with this making any sales. It’s just a minimal effort to check a box that they released a phone this year. It’s a business expense, not expecting to make any sales or profit.

All phones today have their respective ODM listed in the product page or the build properties file.

Cpt.Power, 23 hours agoWorse than HMD phones. Not even a decent entry level device. And HMD's devices are promising in terms of user experience and updates, whereas this is simply a bottom-of-the-barrel rebrand with no target market and drive whatsoever.

          Minu, 03 Apr 2025So a rebranded Moto G05/Transsion phone?G05 but slightly worse. especially the 10W charging ☠️

And no, they don't expect to make money from this. This is basically put into business expense in their accounting. They probably only set to make a few hundred units or whatever least required by the ODM.

6.7" size with 720x1600 resolution? Who will buy in 2025?.

How HTC can even design such phones?!!

What kind of contractual obligation are you thinking of?

Who will even buy this? your mom? This doesn't seem reliable with that chipset plus charging speed or battery. Do whatever you want HTC.

Anonymous, 03 Apr 2025How the might had fallen, HTC was the face of Android in 20... moreHot and unpopular take probably but HTC was never all that good. They just enjoyed the benefits of being early to the game. They always made expensive phones for no real reason and tried to ride that premium but not actually premium boat for far too long.

They had a couple happy accidents with the speakers and 1 or maybe 2 models with decent cameras but nothing else, their software was pretty ugly imo (as seen on HTC One M8) and the build quality itself was pretty terrible.

In case of brands like Nokia you can at least partly blame microsoft for failing to get app developers on board with windows mobile and Google for never releasing a YouTube app for Windows mobile, HTC had everything, partnership with Google, extra deep pockets and at the time a cult-like following.

HTC took everything for granted and believed itself to be "too big to fail"

Its kinda heavy. And who still uses 10 W in 2025?

Anonymous, 03 Apr 2025How the might had fallen, HTC was the face of Android in 20... moreI know, I remember my HTC Desire HD and my HTC One X with fond memories (even though my One X used to suffer with terrible overheating issues due to the Tegra chip)

Anonymous, 03 Apr 2025How the might had fallen, HTC was the face of Android in 20... moreThey can, give a try like how Nothing do right now makes a good budget phone with unique design, cool UI and competitive price. Nothing is already very popular in Indonesia on YouTube with millions of views more than other brands such as Asus, Sony and HMD/Nokia.

                                  Who?

I'm a fan of HTC, their mobile phones were the best in class. HTC phones were sturdy, durable and their software was too smooth to operate.

                                    We really miss HTC.

I am wondering why G81 still exists...
It's just cheap to use G9x nowadays right? Why still G81?
