    Your $799 iphone 16, will become $999 iphone 17
USA make a tariff for China, it means whatever items you buy from China, would be imposed with tarrif, in short, you paid for it, not China

China items price would increase with tariff so that it can competes with local items, it supposed to deter costomer from buying china items and buy local items, in reality, your local goods is still more expensive and you just buy china items anyway with significantly more expensive now

    Still not understand? Example
    Chinese motherboard before tariff $200
American motherboard $500 (because you want to paid higher than chinese)
    Chinese motherboard after tarff $350

Now you are apple, you want cheaper motherboard to cut down cost, of course you pick $350 motherboard and raise price your iphone 17, and who bought for tarrif? USA citizen, not China, you just get robbed for $150 to your goverment, and you proud with it, you guys paid taxes so high already

And how exactly do you 'Make In America' when you depend on imports for several categories of raw materials which you need in order to manufacture 'local' products? De-Globalization is a futile thing to do in this day and age. Trump's approval ratings are rock bottom at the moment...

Somehow I'm not surprised. and China was gentler with its tariff.

These tariffs are useless because nobody buys anything from the USA. After the new tariffs imposed by China, everything will be more expensive in the US.
Some say that this move has to do with something else than a measure against imports. Will see, said the blind man.

Things won’t change in America. They won’t in regards to the smartphone market. I’m saying this as an American. iPhones are practically a culture piece here.
