According to techinsights, bill of materials ( just hardware alone, no other cost included) of iphone 16 pro 256gb is $549.73.
With tariff, may become $846.59

Anonymous, 05 Apr 2025Years ago he wanted to force apple to have assembling in US... moreAs I said, they could absorb It, because they ask that high prices for their products even now, but they don't want to.
And when they are forced to do so by Trump, they cry how unfair that is, crazy bad Trump etc. That's simply ridiculous, they take out huge amounts of money from US citizens but don't want to return even a small part of It to them back.
They are too greedy.
If I want to criticize something about Trump is that those tariffs were too aggressive and without any prior warning, should have put some time(1-2 years) for companies to move the production back.

Cook said iphones would be $100 more.
That was back in 2018.
Do math for today.
Even if costs were still $100 more, that would multiply for more than 200 million.
At least 20 billions. This does not count ipads, computers and watches.
Yeah, apple would surely absorb the loss.
Company that removed charger to save money.
🤣🤣🤣🤣

Corvo7, 05 Apr 2025Nah, Apple would get even more tariffs to produce/assemble ... moreReality check: The real price of the S25 Ultra (512GB) in its launch sale was around R$4,500 (~$763), which is just over 80% of the ~R$5,300 (~$898) that the base iPhone 16 (128GB) still costs over 6 months after launch (average exchange rate: $1 = R$5.9). The base S25 (128GB) was ~R$2,900 (~$492), maybe even lower, since that's from the same recent (last week) sale where the S25 Ultra was ~R$4,900, which I thought was the all-time low, until I saw a screenshot from the launch sale.
Yes, Samsung's flagships are sold for peanuts here if you know about the sales. Going solely off the devices' value for money, ignoring brand identity, Samsung has absolutely zero competition in the high-end in Brazil, across multiple product categories — all thanks to assembling almost everything they sell here locally. Really helpful when import taxes work out to at least 80%.

Companies will:
1. Find loopholes around tariffs
2. Still charge customers as if their products are affected by tariffs.

Anonymous, 05 Apr 2025I find It hilarious that Trump is either bad or crazy for p... morePlease understand basic capital economics, companies don't exist to increase costs and lower profits, they exist to keep increasing profits year on year while trying to minimize costs. Apple's operating margin is 34%, they are not going to absorb a tariff of 25%+ by any means. They also don't set up factories to make their products, Foxxconn does and they work on gross profit margin of barely 7%. Production is not coming to the US with that level of margin. Tariffs have been debated for decades it's not an idea that's genius or stable but then that era of America is over

good, but is Brazil not a part of the USA
Brazil is in South America
soooo..... manufacturing in Brazil/Mexico/Chile/Argentina is not going to help avoid the tariff for Americans I suppose?

How much people would you need in USA to produce Apple products in 8 hour shifts? 150,000?
The highest minimum wage of $17 is in Washington, D.C.
That's $2992 for working 8 hours 22 days in a month.
2992 * 12 * 150,000 = 5.39B
Apple earned $93,74B in net income last year !!!!!!
So stop with this nonsense, how It's expensive and what not. For Apple It's simply not.
The ones who most cry about these tariffs are actually those who can easily absorb the additional cost, but they don't want to, that's all.

Why Apple can not make a manufacturing Facility in USA? 🤔
Because they can't afford it. The Labour charges are high compare to china , India , Bangladesh , Brazil.

Yeah, It would cost more to produce It in USA, but that doesn't mean prices need to increase at least not in case of Apple products. Apple with $125B in profits can certainly absorb the cost difference, but they don't want to, because they are too greedy.

Now imagine the wage to have employees working 14-16h/day , like often seen in China and Southeast Asia.
