I hope finally phones with the SoC and...32GB RAM...and 2TB flash. Just for to make models with 16GB/1TB more cheaper.

Cah Nglayab, 08 Apr 2025Now we need MediaTek to compete. Monopoly is annoying. What monopoly? There's more MediaTek flagships in 2024-25 then ever, even Samsung used 9300 in their tabs.

Qualcomm is expensive as hell but they don't have monopoly. I don't understand the hate against Qualcomm.

Apart from their somewhat tone dead naming convention, they're not involved in any malicious practices.

Great SoCs, great integrated modems, great stability, great driver support, great community projects, what more could we ask?

The price stings because general rebumerations in the job market is not equivalent of inflation rates.

        mm.. massive????

Bhaumik Shah, 08 Apr 2025Why cant Phones with SD elite 2 have 6000+ mAH battery and... moreWhat do you mean? The chipset isn't even out yet. Nearly all flagships this year other than Samsung came with 6+Ah batteries. OnePlus has good software, so do Oppo and Vivo and HyperOS is being targetted for no reason. 10 mins spent setting up the phone is all it takes to get great experience.

I don't get people constantly complaining about software, what do you want?

I've never come across one real issue in these comments.

Before anyone says I've not used them, yes, yes I have.
OnePlus 7 Pro was my primary for almost 6 years and there's a Redmi 12C issued by my sisters office that runs HyperOS 1.2 something with ridiculously good battery life. All I did was use Shizuku to uninstall some pre-installed apps and it even performs decent with just 4GB RAM (daily office use like docs, browsing, virtual meetings, etc) it sure runs out of RAM but that's a physical limitation not a HyperOS problem.

Why cant Phones with SD elite 2 have 6000+ mAH battery and optimized software ? Samsung really needs to push battery capacity in its S series phones as their battery life is not good being stuck at 5000 mAH battery. No matter how efficient the chip is or how optimized the One UI software is 5000 mAH capacity battery just doesnt cut it

Is this SD 8 Gen 4?

Enough of these LYT 600 stuff. Get Poco F7 Ultra at the end of the year below 500USD for 512GB and use proper GCam mod. You will be fine for three years. Get backup device in the form of Poco F7.

Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 is late for launch because of this 8s Gen 3/8s Gen 4 concept. Let's see what 7 Gen 4 can do in future. Honor 400 and One Plus Nord CE 5 is coming with that chipset. One Plus Nord 4 is equally good phone if you are getting it for 350 Euroes for 512GB, if you ignore camera. Might be last device with alert slider.

Same is happening with Samsung now. Not able to rollout the update for Samsung S24U on time. It's been three to five months since OnePlus rolled out A15 update for OnePlus 12. S24U costs a lot more than OP12. Doesn't make sense. Second generation devices with same chipset are more optimized than first generation device. Experienced this last three years.

mediatek have either limited quantity or no one buys their flagship

potato4k, 08 Apr 2025What I hate about Android is that the gap between flagship ... moreI checked this months ago, and I found that..
Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 is marginally more performing than Snapdragon 870. And, as 7+ Gen 3 is totally another beast with huge gains over 7 Gen 3 itself, so both of these are up there with the best from some yesteryears.

However, I noticed one strange thing:- while using someone's (faster) 7 Gen 3 midranger phone (Oneplus Nord CE4), I noticed more lags compared to my Snapdragon 855 phone (ex-flagship, LG G8x) which is supposed to be slower.
This is despite everything being better in Nord CE4, like UFS 3.1 memory, RAM amount, etc.
One explanation could be older Android version (10 vs 14).

This suggests that ex-flagships do have some merits compared to even modern midrangers. Earlier I used to think it was just limited to better cameras & audio setup, but no, there's something related to performance too... so maybe you do have a valid point.

So much foolishness regarding soc perf and efficiency. Everyone should go watch geekerwans videos and checkout his socpk website.

potato4k, 08 Apr 2025What I hate about Android is that the gap between flagship ... moreRight. In the midrange segment there is only one chipset that I look for that is 7+ gen 3/8s gen 3. Said this a couple of times here on this site that 8s gen 3 had latest cores when it launched even if the performance was nerfed to 8 gen 2 level. It was more efficient than 8 gen 2. Was hoping 8s Gen 4 brought X925 or better used oryon cores.

What I hate about Android is that the gap between flagship and mid range are extremely wide. I mean SD8 Elite 2 is coming, yet the SD7 series is barely any faster for years, let alone reaching old SD8 performance. And it's worse on SD6 where Qualcomm is still using ancient cores and rebranding ancient SoCs.

I mean if the flagship is getting SD8 Elite 2, mid rangers should've been at least at 8gen1 or 2 level.

Even worse, Qualcomm kept the best ISP and modem only for the 8 series.
