These do not have upgradeable parts so that is mandatory. Laptops can be repurposed with Linux once Microsoft abandons them. Or be forced to install Windows 11 for those deemed incompatible.
How they move away from a business model of selling new stuff every year... that's their problem.

I don't know anything about software, but I'm wondering how difficult and/or expensive would it be for a company to support a phone for, let's say, 10 years of just security updates on a quarterly, or at least biannually basis. And I know it doesn't really make sense to support a phone for that long, I'm only wondering how expensive would that be.
