Shameful . After paying a hefty amount on purchasing the s20 series flagship , no updates are available . This will also be remembered for Green and Pink lines after software updates , wherein the user was not at fault. Shame.

5 years is alright, this is how much most of the people stick with. I personally stick to 4 years upgrade cycle. But the more the better, you can still sell them for higher price after all that 4-5 years of use.

Anonymous, 13 Apr 2025I love my S20 and it is still my daily use phone, but it is... moreDon't buy another Samsung, or you will be part of the problem. Samsung took away all the features we love and still charge the same if not more for a phone.
Stop rewarding bad behavior and we may actually get competitive phones again.

Funny becuase as far as I am concerned, the S20 line was the last of the Samsung era. I used to buy a new phone at the highest teir almost every year. Once the SD Card capability was removed I was out. I have no desire to purchase any of their phones anymore. They took away everything that I needed in a phone.
- SD Card
- Headphone jack
- IR Blaster
- Removable batteries
- S-Health fingerprint scanner
- Premium phone materials
- Bluetooth S-Pen
- Samsung Note special features.
They removed so much hardware from their phones they have nothing to advertise anymore. Every year its "We upgraded the processor and camera!" or, "we added a GIMMICK like AI or folding ability!".
Literally, right now on Youtube Samsung has an ad where they boast about being able to translate and find a lost device. Lol SAMSUNG... EVERY PHONE CAN CAN TRANSLATE AND HAS A LOST DEVICE FEATURE!
Its sad. They went from being the absolute best, and wowing us every year to one of the worst companies. Every year removing something and pretending an old SOFTWARE feature is something new. Every year bragging about some gimmick as they quietly remove another hardware feature.
I hate Samsung. I went from being a diehard buy a new Samsung phone nearly every year to hoarding old phones and wanting Samsung to die. Its pathetic.
Samsung you reached your goal. You became Apple. A company who doesn't listen to their customers and cuts much needed features to save a buck, while charging a premium.
The second a phone company brings back SD Cards, headphone jacks, removable batteries and everything we used to expect from Samsung, is the second I buy a new phone. I would drop $2000 for an 1 tb sd card capable Note-like phone right now.
The US is in desperate need of competition in the phone market. I'm so tired of every year the same recycled headlines. "We updated the processor!" "We updated the camera!" and or, "we created a new software gimmick!"
This comment written from a S20 Ultra. The last Samsung phone I will ever buy.

I love my S20 and it is still my daily use phone, but it is starting to show its age (battery life declining) and sure there might be newer flashier choices - it still serves me perfectly well. I'm not at all happy that I will be forced to upgrade because of security updates being pulled

I use Galaxy S10 Lite since August 2020 , it is good enough for daily usage , like browsing and texting , but not for games , games became more demanding on cpu and gpu , and SD 855 , is not powerful enough these days. ..despite I really like this phone and need no better than that, but tbh , battery absolutely became much weaker now , and if use it 4 hours I need to charge it again , aside from that , if Samsung was still pushing Android updates for , I wouldn't change it
So I think , for Flagship models , with powerful Chips ( when release) I found that phone can still be usable enough for 6 or 7 years ... until user need the latest camera improvement, speakers quality, or playing games..

I love my S20 Ultra. It does everything I need to do. The battery is obviously not as good as new, but as a pensioner, I begrudge having to pay out over £1000 for a newer phone that is probably not any better than this one. Updates should be constant.

I was still using my S20 Ultra, recently mived into an S25Ultra and not disappointed but my S20 was still strong although the battery needed to be replaced. As to how long is long enough.. Id still be using my S20 but now I see the upgrade in tech with the 25 and Im not sure we will want to wait 5 years again with as fast as things can change. If new models now being updated for 7 years.. if your waiting for updates in 7 years youll own a true dinosaur.

Kind of fun when I read "And now all of that has ended, as those devices were only promised support for five years" . only 5 years? Which OEM updates their phones for five years in 2020 ?
