A masterstroke by Trump. The tarrifs made Chinese made goods price on par with American made goods.
So in the the shorter term, it is going to increase the sales of American made goods and in longer term like 5 years down the line, it is going to boost their manufacturing. It will force the companies to divest from China for sure. As two of the five major markets US and India has higher taxes on Chinese goods. The remaining are EU, Japan and China itself. That is a huge market shrinkage for any company wanting to manufacture in China. It'll most likely boost other countries as well like India, Vietnam, Phillipines, US and Brazil.

If it’s on sale now these watches are already in the US so it’s very sneaky to raise the price. No wonder they have no comment on it, it can’t be justified.

"at $499 is a much tougher sell" - that's a very strange way to say "you can't be stupid enough to pay this for it".
The vast majority of smartwatches can barely justify a $300 price tag (usually through looks, if they can at all), this one doesn't do anything special that would warrant one either.
