15 April 2025
OEMs need to respect these if they want Google Mobile Services on their devices.

Anonymous, 15 Apr 2025As someone affected by the removal of Google's service... moreWhich means that all app data is forced to go via Google spyware services. For every simple client -server app, which basically can be replaced by a web browser?

You get an idea why apple and Google pushed that "there's an app for everything" nonsense years ago and keep messing up with devices and data. Our devices and our data! To hell with their notifications and services

magnaroader, 15 Apr 2025They aren't running the full One UI though, it's ... moreseriously it's insane they still haven't fixed the Ui, I think they might only give the OS upgrades to 6/8gb ram variants that way they can technically still keep the promise.but usability wise it'll be a nightmare on such hardware.

Luke, 15 Apr 2025I think vendors should start offering options to remove Goo... moreAs someone affected by the removal of Google's services when the US-China slap fight started with Huawei, I can tell you for a fact that nobody would do it.
I'm not even going to bring up security, app acquisition or anything like that...I'll just say - you'd be EXTREMELY surprised how few apps' notifications will even work properly without Google's services installed - that alone is enough to put off 95% of people out there, the other 5% will be covered by something else that will be missing/inconvenient.

Removing Google's APPS - yeah, I can get behind that, but unless someone comes up with a viable alternative, removing the Google Services is not worth it at all.

I hope Google sets all Android users with a minimum RAM of 32GB and internal or ROM at 512GB for all Android versions

magnaroader, 15 Apr 2025They aren't running the full One UI though, it's ... moreSince OneUI 6, there is no Core version of OneUI, you can even run goodlock modules. Unofficialy of course.

Bravosixgoingdark, 15 Apr 2025everyone who bought those lower end Samsung A series phones... moreThey aren't running the full One UI though, it's the "Core" software which is essentially the laggiest variant of Android Go possible lol

Google services should be optional give choice to customer.

potato4k, 15 Apr 20256GB RAM minimum is good. It IS the minimum. But please Goo... moreBetter EMMC 5.1 than whatever EMMC module HMD/Nokia still use.
I'm not saying EMMC is great but 5.1 is still passable compared to what HMD is slapping onto their phones

I think vendors should start offering options to remove Google services from the devices.. it will all be fine afterwards

Actually my recommend budget phone minimum capacity is 8gb ram with LPDDR4X and 128gb rom UFS 2.2. Do not select 4gb/64gb with eMMC 5.1 is worst.

Bravosixgoingdark, 15 Apr 2025everyone who bought those lower end Samsung A series phones... moreRam requirements are not upgraded all the time as you can see, they will survive.

potato4k, 15 Apr 20256GB RAM minimum is good. It IS the minimum. But please Goo... moreMaybe just make eMMC for Android go phones only

6GB RAM minimum is good. It IS the minimum.
But please Google, ban eMMC for Android 16 onwards. We are in 2025, really no reason for eMMC to exist on newly released smartphones.

If you look at the source, it only says 4GB „may“ become mandatory, not that it will be like written here

It seems we're getting near to a 12 GB RAM minimum RAM requirement (seriously)
