Report: foldable iPhone is a go for next year after Samsung Display solves the crease issue

15 April 2025
The perfectionists at Apple didn't like the size of the creases on current foldable displays, which proved to be a roadblock for the project.

"Samsung Display and Samsung Display alone has finally solved the issue" ........ totally no crease? as in like when open up exactly the same as a normal flat display?

The production target of 9 - 15 million is a huge overshoot. Apple's clumsy, careless, spoon-fed, and non-techy consumer base is not strong enough to support those kind of numbers for a foldable device. It's going to be an RMA nightmare. The company will be lucky if it sells much more than 1 million units.

Expect not less than 3000 dollars. Listen to me and buy a decent laptop instead plus an iPhone or a Samsung phone.

Cpt.Power, 16 Apr 2025With current bans and taxes on chinese industry this projec... moreYou forgetting that iPhone is a fashionable accessory not phone. They can put 20K price tag on it and people will buy it.

Also we can make fun of Apple vs Samsung wars, but in reality they are best partners in market. Samsung have technology and Apple have money. Apple is pretty much main source of income for Mobile Division of Samsung, Comparing to what Samsung get from selling phones, Apple and Samsung services keep Samsung MD float.
So when Apple will buy Samsung screens, they buy it cheap as hell as money will be in numbers of orders, so cost of creating foldable iPhone will probably the same if not lower than Samsung foldable. Apple can put any price on it and still make money from it even if they will need to ship those screen to other contry, assemble it there and then send to US.

With current bans and taxes on chinese industry this project will remain only as project because it would be so expensive to make one that nobody would buy it just like with project titan or Apple VR where after 2 weeksn all been returned back.

Well if true, no need to even look at the Fold this year as they will reserve Apple 1st dibs on the tech. So skip this year's fold and it might appear in next years. And no, not considering Apple. Too greedy and you're just paying basically the same thing for "image".

How many times has Apple requested these faked news? It isn't up to Apple when they get foldable phones. It is up to the manufacturers. I suspect this particular faked news is to "cover" the fact that they've been funding BOE's criminal activity for years, trying to steal Samsung's IP. So, now they pretend they've always wanted Samsung's displays after all.

Before that, they mocked Apple with such hardware features.

If Apple really cares about screen creases, they should know that rollable screen is the way to go. LG has already shown the way all along.

Samsung hasn't solved the crease in their own foldables and yet they've solved it for Apple? Go on, pull the other one.

It will be all about UX in the end, like it has always been.
