S I R E, 16 Apr 2025Classic NOTHING.
I was actually warming up to the CMF 1 ... moreThis.
This is how I managed to spend $99 on a flagship phone in the second hand market. Tuned and polished for playing Battlegrounds with numerous accessories.

EcoblueEnjoyer, 18 Apr 2025Costs basically nothing but cost-benefit balance doesn'... moreYour entire argument revovles around what *feels* normal to you disregarding any other users needs.
"I've come to this point so everyone else must have as well" is a really dismissive and poor approach to this.
You're supposed to think rational and reasonable after getting your logic right. It should be obvious.
If you can't see the superiority and obvious usefulness of faster USB standards over gimmicky LED lights then you've never used a phone beyond some social media scrolls and mild gaming.

Optimus Prime, 17 Apr 2025My dear commenter from another dimension, the poco f5 only h... moreGo read my comment again !
I specifically wrote that F5 come with either 8GB RAM or 12GB RAM
Just cause i was talking about storage for this Nothing phone 128GB version for 180 euro and 256GB storage version for 245 euro as the price difference where the double storage version is expensive
Dion't blame me with your reading skills that are lacking when i talk about RAM on F5 as it's difference in price of the phone while you somehow see the RAM as storage.
There was no point to mention that both F5 options come with 256GB storage and more RAM is more worth it then more storage in the price difference that is less then storage difference with Nothing

S I R E, 17 Apr 2025Pick a side? Are you justifing them or criticizing them?
... moreUnsurprisingly, I criticize every brand today, and that includes Nothing as well.
Nothing has never made phones with LCDs yet, but judging by how the CMF is amongst the few OLED options in that price bracket (its most defining feature, besides the removable back panel), there's a chance they may replace it with a LCD panel. A similar situation happened with the Nothing 3a series, where its defining 50MP ultrawide was replaced with a pedestrian 8MP sensor.

S I R E, 17 Apr 2025Costs basically nothing but cost-benefit balance doesn'... moreCosts basically nothing but cost-benefit balance doesn't make sense.
As I said, the cost-benefit balance doesn't make sense because they're both niche features that very few will bother using. It's a budget phone, which means that corners have to be cut. Even if it costs one RMB, that's a yuan that could be better spent elsewhere, like NFC, which is something people actually use, from what I've noticed anyway.
"Your assumed sensus of not many people using something is no argument."
First of all, it's census. Get your spelling right first.
Secondly, what am I supposed to do after getting my logic right?
Thirdly, I'm basing what I'm saying off of experience paying attention to the smartphone industry since 2019, and in the case of USB data speeds, the usage habits that I have noticed in myself and others. I'm the only person who I know, who benefits from having a USB port that goes beyond 2.0 speeds, as I use DeX from time to time, but something along the lines of a CMF won't have that feature, and even if it does, it won't have the power to do it well.
Undeniably, virtually everyone would benefit from faster storage, but on something this cheap, the higher price is likely not worthwhile. Then again, the display on the old Phone 1 was a complete waste of cash, as it was far more premium than anything else on the device, so clearly Nothing isn't particularly worried about making a balanced device. I actually joked when the original CMF came out, that it was a TV pretending to be a phone, and I still think that holds water.
cost is an important factor. That's the ultimate reason behind 95% (a number I pulled out of my posterior, meant to get the point across, if that wasn't already clear) of CMF purchases. Otherwise, those consumers would buy from Nothing, Xiaomi, Samsung, Apple or any of their contemporaries.
A headphone jack is most certainly more worthwhile than the glyph interface, but I do wonder why and how you would get any tangible benefit from a high-speed USB port on a phone like this one? I can at least see *some* benefit from glyphs, even if most of that benefit is the cool factor.

Nothing/cmf is more about design and aesthetics and probably their os rsther than specs. If the 3a PRO only got the modest 7s gen 3... then dont expect their budget phone to have a dramatic change of chipset.

What this means is that there is no significant nor noticeable difference in real-life use if yoy are using the CMF Phone 1.
If you have the CMF Phone 1, you really do not need to upgrade because this is not an upgrade at all. If they increased the price even more, just buy the Phone 1.

Apart from that, this would likely be a rebranded 2a, except with a lower resolution PLS TFT, similar to the earlier iteration.

Get your logic right first.
Your assumed sensus of not many people using something is no argument.
If cost is such an important factor and your primary point of rebuttal, then the entire nithing brand shouldn't exist based on the fact that their primary differentiation is a LED light system that is a waste of battery life and a complete gimmick. I'll take USB 3+ and Audio Jack every day of the week and so will any other sensible person over that gimmick.

S I R E, 16 Apr 2025Classic NOTHING.
I was actually warming up to the CMF 1 ... moreThe 2a is actually pretty good. The camera is slightly below average but it's a good phone otherwise.
UFS 3.1 in the segment that this is going to play in seems like a waste of cash. 2.2 is perfectly fine unless it's being used for page swap. USB 3.X makes even less sense. Sure, it costs basically nothing, but it also accomplishes basically nothing. You can use that for DP alt mode, but veryyyy few people are going to use the USB port for data transfer any time other than transferring data to and from the phone. The cost-benefit balance doesn't really make sense.
