135mm equivalent zoom for an 1/2" sensor at f/3,1:

potato4k, 17 Apr 2025If you want a camera, why would you buy this phone instead ... moreBecause I don't want another gear in my bag. And if I wanna edit my mirrorless footage I need a third gear called laptop.

potato4k, 17 Apr 2025If you want a camera, why would you buy this phone instead ... moreNot instead, in addition to. The best camera is the one you have with you, and chances having a phone (in this case - the best photo phone on the market) in any given moment are kinda higher than having a full-blown camera setup.

Anonymous, 17 Apr 2025...someone has never seen a Pixel from gen. 6 until today. ... moreI just said it's the ugliest looking camera bump I have ever seen, that's my opinion on how how I judge a style of a phone, I am sure you you too judge. How would you put the sensors on the back of the phone, that's upto them and from my perspective, I said what I saw.

Eno2, 17 Apr 2025Your statement is only partially correct, because nobody im... moreNo, aperture is how wide the lens is. Focal length is how far the lens for the sensor has to be. So no matter if you have 1" 35mm/F1.0 or 1" 35mm/F10.0. The Distance from the sensor to the lens has to be exactly the same. The difference will be only in the diameter of the glass in the lens.
And as for sensor sizes - I'm all in for bigger ones. I am earning by taking pictures now over 15 years, and I rather sacrifice the size of the phone to have better images than other way round.
And as for lens size vs sensor size - it has to be both. A small aperture on the big sensor will limit the resolution that the lens is projecting on the sensor by going over the light difraction limit. And you cannot go around that one. The resolution of the single pixel in the lens project cannot be smaller than the wave of the light of given color. So no, faster lenses are not only for dark situations. They literally help to produce sharper images if you are near the difraction limit, which is the case in smartphones world.

potato4k, 17 Apr 2025If you want a camera, why would you buy this phone instead ... moreNo, no phone comes close to a Mirrorless Camera

potato4k, 17 Apr 2025If you want a camera, why would you buy this phone instead ... morethats what im saying......the one reason why vivo wont bring this phone to global is that is not a great phone nor a great camera so its sales are not gonna be great(IDK who is the target audiance) ..........its more like vivo saying this is what we can make to make a statement not for sales...i wouldnt be surprised if they didnt make any profit on their ultra series

Eno2, 17 Apr 2025Because top of the line Camera-phones nowadays equal or eve... moresure but I find the results of cameras with fast primes better than phones. have you ever tried a nifty fifty on your a7iii? you definetly have looking at how much you know, I don't think I've seen anyone here besides you right there mention dynamic range. btw have you seen the new viltrox 50mm f2 air that's super sharp from corner to corner, now that's a nifty fifty if I've seen one. And like I started following this site and commenting wanting to get a phone with a good camera, but that prompted me into looking into photography and I ended up buying a 5d mark 3 and a nifty fifty instead of a phone and spending the last Idk 5 months getting deep into photography. But this kit that I've got takes better photos with extremely shallow dof and subject separation it's leagues ahead of all the photos I've seen here in reviews or well ever taken with my phone or old digicam when those were still a thing.

Joke of the day! Vivo X200 Ultra > Oppo Find X8 Ultra > Xiaomi 15 Ultra.
Vivo is the best camera phone, before next year the X300 Ultta might be released.

Xiaomi 16 Ultra should advance 2026, also their expected Xiaomi 16 Pro this Fall.

potato4k, 17 Apr 2025If you want a camera, why would you buy this phone instead ... moreBecause with DSLR you cant make calls, text, use apps, play games on it etc???

Apart Google, Motorola and few else which comes with pure android.
And honestly soe UIs arent that bad even if i prefer clean stock android.

jiyen235, 17 Apr 2025people were complaining about the main camera being a 1/1.2... moreExactly in camera and not only in camera department the S25 ultra is really mediocre phone. Apart same chipset it have nothing else flagship grade means best out of best.

I need new phone, 17 Apr 2025why would anyone buy this as a phone ? its a camera .......... moreCompared to Xiaomi 15 Ultra is garbage.
And xiaomi 15 ultra got global release said Oppo not.

erotavlas, 17 Apr 2025Holy cow, that camera bump is massive. Like crazy massive!... moreYes its real.
Camera fans wouldnt complains and ithers can pick from billions of others phones on market.
For example midranger with glagship procesor S25 Ultra.
This phone have everything superior not just chipset.
Although Xiaomi Mi 15 Ultra far better.
I really dont think anything can beat that phone.

The Android Freak, 17 Apr 2025Except for not having flat display, this is best phone ever... moreMi 15 Ultra is better and it have better cameras.

The lens focal length is just the distanc... moreYour statement is only partially correct, because nobody implied the 1" sensor needs to have the same aperture as the ~70% smaller 1/1,28" one. With slower apertures, you can produce smaller lenses even for bigger sensors.
You may be asking why bother with larger sensor then?! The answer is because in good light, they offer much better image quality because of the larger pixels: lower noise, finer details, higher DR and better tonality and colors; which they all are directly proportional with the sensor size. The bigger the sensor, the better the image quality! Faster lenses only help in lower light situations, but larger sensors also produce cleaner images to start with in any situation.

Have you've seen out of the camera JPG's from the Nikon, Canon or Sony APS-C's lately? Instead of carrying big, chunky mirror-less with a huge super-zoom that can weight more than 1Kg together, you are better served by a very competent Camera-phone, which is also a portable computer that can connect to the internet at will.

This is my humble opinion as an owner of a Sony A7III, which mostly stays in the shelf nowadays after purchasing the Oppo Find X7 Ultra.
