🤣🤣🤣 What's so dangerous about an old Android version with an older security update? Oh, please tell me more about this.
I've seen plenty of devices being full of viruses running Android 14, mostly Samsung phones, but I'm not blaming Samsung for that at all, that's not their fault, that is only the user's fault, tap on anything suspicious, or download something you shouldn't have, and you've just got viruses whatever OS you are running, whether it's Android 8, or Android 15 or 16 when that comes out.

Ironically, that slight delay might even provide more of those patches.
That's worlds apart from phones abandoned by other makers, often after only 3 years of update promises, leaving them wide open to every new exploit targeting known flaws (risking bank details, personal data, everything).
Since you refuse to grasp that basic, critical distinction, there's nothing more to discuss.

That's cool, they confirmed it, meaning no user is actually waiting for an update, they know it's never coming, whereas Samsung users were expecting to receive this update in the past couple of months.
"..go make comments about these companies still selling phones with laughable 3 year lifespans."
Thank you for confirming that you are another one of those "once a phone no longer receives updates it becomes unusable" person. Good, well then let me tell you something, every person with Samsung devices from last year or older have been using an outdated Android version for months and had no issues, thus your argument of a phone is bad when it has outdated software goes out the window.
Look, I have phones with Android 15 as well as Android 13 that I use daily, from different brands, and apart from different brand specific features, I'm living my life on both the same way, no issues on either.

And are you now defending companies dumping expensive flagships like the Vivo X70 Pro+, Oppo Find X3 Pro or OnePlus 9 because "they still work"? What a logic to excuse horrible update policies.
Meanwhile, Samsung had a necessary, inevitable Vulkan huge migration hiccup (which didn't boost flat S25 sales) but still delivers on its 4+ year promise for phones like the S21. And will be back on track for their next major release.
If you actually want to "fight mediocrity", go make comments about these companies still selling phones with laughable 3 year lifespans.
Go crusade against them... unless, of course, you actually enjoy paying for phones designed to be obsolete after only 36 months?

They are more than 3 years old, and still work perfectly without updates, except for the 2 Poco phones you've mentioned which are budget devices. Moto Edge 30 Ultra will get Android 15.
Oh and the most important thing that you forgot to mention, all of these devices have already received every software update they were promised to get, people owning and using these ARE NOT WAITING for software as they know that they will no longer receive any.
"Get over this one first and last "late" update cycle."
Samsung is late, and that's a fact, they could've changed it, they didn't and YOU CAN NOT. Everyone else has already updated their supported phones, they are the last ones by far, meaning they are late.

"I don't see the point in more than 3 years of Android updates" / "Plus it's not like a phone without updates is unusable"
So you don't care about updates past 3 years and think old Android versions are perfectly usable... but a couple of months delay within that time is some kind of crisis? The contradiction is glaring.
This delay didn't boost S25 sales (source Counterpoint), it was clearly fallout from the complex but necessary Vulkan migration Samsung had to tackle for future Android requirements and performance gains. That would inevitably happen at some point.
And about : "Oh, it started as planned that's so great, then it's fine that it happened 6 months after all the other brands have already updated their 1 year old phones to Android 15. The OnePlus 12 had Android 15 before the S25 series was even launched and that's a phone from the end of 2023."
Let's talk about the phones actually left behind by other : where's Android 15 for the Poco X5 Pro 5G / M5 (2023)? The Motorola Edge 30 Pro/Edge+ (2022)? The Oppo Find X3 Pro (2021)? Or even the OnePlus 9 (2021)? All expensive (specially flagships), still capable devices reportedly abandoned.
Yet Samsung's 4 year old Galaxy S21 gets Android 15 next month, with ongoing security patches.
So sure, some brands push one update faster. Of course, it's easier when you offer shorter update support lifecycles, manage a tiny fraction of devices and avoid complex system overhauls across your entire lineup.
Clearly different priorities, stop being this obsessed for only one "late" update cycle.

Most don't care about AI, but at least Apple updates all their phones as soon as their newest update comes out, because they actually finish the update before sending it. Samsung's AI is way better than what Apple has, better than what everyone else has, but it won't stay free, like the AI the rest offers, none will stay free, there won't be a ton of people that will choose to pay for it anyways.

Samsung stated the global rollout starts in April and it actually started in April, as planned.
Millions of Samsung users worldwide are not flooding social media and forums daily about not getting updates, maybe they either don't care or understand that large-scale rollouts take time (big changes, more users and 70+ devices than anyone), while they are still getting security patches.
Apple is sued for false advertising over their "Apple Intelligence", now that's really ridiculous.

Same with news that update was delayed for S24, but it seems it was just entirely delayed because I don't have S24 and I didn't get anything at all.

The thing is, I don't see the point in more than 3 years of Android updates, most people switch phones after 2-3 years, some even switch after 1 year of usage (yes I've seen multiple people swapping their S24 Ultra to an S25 Ultra), so I'm okay with 3-4 years of OS updates, as long as they are fast. Plus it's not like a phone without updates is unusable, anything running Android 8, or newer can run everything if it's powerful enough.
"Now, when leaks suggests the next update might come faster precisely because it has minor changes (still a A15 to A16), just like most updates used to be and you whine : "iS iT rEaLlY aN uPdAtE?"."
If it's basically the same thing, then do YOU think it's truly an upgrade? It's just going to be a version number change basically, and that would be fine, but that is exactly why YOU are always calling out other brands, not knowing that they also make big changes, yes I said ALSO, because so is Samsung. The thing is those big changes from other brands came faster, and Android 16 is also going to be faster from other brands as they are already sending out Beta versions for their devices, so Samsung suddenly being fast (but still not the fastest) again with a tiny update is nothing to write home about.
"Or while Apple sells questionable AI hype?"
Apple's AI is a joke, but Apple doesn't get nearly as much coverage as Samsung does so of course you see less of me there, but if you've checked any of the articles regarding the iPhone 16e, you would know I'm not exactly an Apple fanboy either.
Oh, and just to add something positive, Samsung's AI is currently the best out there, but I'm more of a hardware guy, and they should improve on that.

DarlingYext, 18 Apr 2025"What "mediocrity"?
Let's be precise. ... moreAh yes : "they've delayed this update for months"...
And for what gain, exactly? Worse brand image? Flat S25 sales ? Makes total sense xD
The most apparent reason for this delay, as I have already said 10 times, is the cost of the extensive work required to reimplement and test Vulkan and each features across all 70+ supported older devices to meet further Android requirements, such as Vulkan.
And that effort can also brings some performance/battery boosts, especially more noticeable on older flagships like the S21 series, you know, the one actually getting Android 15 while comparable Moto, Vivo or Oppo older expensive 2021 flagships get nothing but dust?
Or while Apple sells questionable AI hype?
