The thing is, I don't see the point in more than 3 years of Android updates, most people switch phones after 2-3 years, some even switch after 1 year of usage (yes I've seen multiple people swapping their S24 Ultra to an S25 Ultra), so I'm okay with 3-4 years of OS updates, as long as they are fast. Plus it's not like a phone without updates is unusable, anything running Android 8, or newer can run everything if it's powerful enough.

"Now, when leaks suggests the next update might come faster precisely because it has minor changes (still a A15 to A16), just like most updates used to be and you whine : "iS iT rEaLlY aN uPdAtE?"."

If it's basically the same thing, then do YOU think it's truly an upgrade? It's just going to be a version number change basically, and that would be fine, but that is exactly why YOU are always calling out other brands, not knowing that they also make big changes, yes I said ALSO, because so is Samsung. The thing is those big changes from other brands came faster, and Android 16 is also going to be faster from other brands as they are already sending out Beta versions for their devices, so Samsung suddenly being fast (but still not the fastest) again with a tiny update is nothing to write home about.

"Or while Apple sells questionable AI hype?"

Apple's AI is a joke, but Apple doesn't get nearly as much coverage as Samsung does so of course you see less of me there, but if you've checked any of the articles regarding the iPhone 16e, you would know I'm not exactly an Apple fanboy either.

Oh, and just to add something positive, Samsung's AI is currently the best out there, but I'm more of a hardware guy, and they should improve on that.

Now, when leaks suggests the next One UI 8 update might come faster precisely because it has minor changes (still a A15 to A16), just like most updates used to be and you whine : "iS iT rEaLlY aN uPdAtE?".

The hypocrisy is staggering. None of your comments make sense anymore, unless the goal is simply being an obsessed Samsung hater, full stop.

DarlingYext, 18 Apr 2025"What "mediocrity"? Let's be precise. ... moreAh yes : "they've delayed this update for months"...
And for what gain, exactly? Worse brand image? Flat S25 sales ? Makes total sense xD

The most apparent reason for this delay, as I have already said 10 times, is the cost of the extensive work required to reimplement and test Vulkan and each features across all 70+ supported older devices to meet further Android requirements, such as Vulkan.

And that effort can also brings some performance/battery boosts, especially more noticeable on older flagships like the S21 series, you know, the one actually getting Android 15 while comparable Moto, Vivo or Oppo older expensive 2021 flagships get nothing but dust?
Or while Apple sells questionable AI hype?

Funny how we still don't see your daily rants bashing those companies. Clearly, the selective outrage is reserved exclusively for Samsung.

They are absolutely not serious and they are totally unprofessional for the company of their size. We don't expect this kind of nonsense from smaller companies like Nothing and we're suppose to just take it from likes of Samsung or Apple? No, they should be relentlessly bashed for it because they became lazy and complacent.

I bought Samsung because just few years ago they were top dog when it comes to software. They released monthly security updates before anyone else, even before Google. They had major Android versions up before December of every year. None of this is true anymore and it's terrible.

It's a mediocre excuse to why they've delayed this update for months. Even flagships only get slower by time, naturally so, not because of OS updates, but just by using them, with midrange devices this is even worse. All this talk about Vulkan, but most users will never feel that change, but they've definitely felt the delay of the update.

Plus this update surely won't make Samsung's 4GB RAM devices any faster with Google now requiring at least 4GB of RAM for Android 15 devices, yet something like the A16 is said to be supported for 6 years even though it has a 4GB RAM option like many other Samsung devices including the A54, this will only lead to more delayed or even cancelled updates, or devices getting downgraded to Android Go because Android 16 will require at least 6GB of RAM.

Let's be precise. Is it "mediocre" that Samsung invested months implementing huge Vulkan changes to actually improve long-term OS performance for users, all while maintaining security patches and are now already back on track for the next major release? Is that the standard for mediocrity now?

Because if so, that seems wildly preferable to the actual mediocrity shown by companies like Motorola, Vivo, Oppo, or iQOO who often don't update or provide basic security patches for their older devices. Shouldn't the "vote with your wallet" energy go there first?

Or maybe towards Apple's alleged "AI" marketing hype for features reportedly non-existent on hardware costing a fortune?

Honestly, pouring this much energy into daily rants about Samsung's little temporary adjustment seems wildly disproportionate.
But hey, keep up the tireless crusade. Maybe one day Samsung will notice your vital contribution of identical daily "complaints".
