The option to shoot at a focal length with no distortion when so desired is very powerful, and is much better than the sensor crop on Quad Bayer sensors done to simulate a zoom length as this approach lacks the optical properties of a true 50mm focal length. It's better than nothing, but actual hardware with a 50mm focal length is a better option as long as the sensor is big. Obviously this isn't the case with the OnePlus 13T's setup, though it's still better than a sensor crop as it can focus up close (better macro capabilities than if they used an ultrawide).

Iritator Challengeri, 19 Apr 2025In terms of what? Making highly explosive UI?Xiaomi better camera and hardware

Invetor, 19 Apr 2025the 101mm photos are surprisingly not bad but other than... moreThey're the same cameras as the 13r minus the uw. The op13 has better cameras all around

Rolly Ghiz, 19 Apr 2025Probably 8MP with fixed focus, so it's not worth mentioningi'd rather have this over nothing tbh , but they are saying that there is no ultrawide

LGs , 19 Apr 2025Why no UW, why 2x zoom? Who need, main camera is good for 2... moreikr why would you go that low !!

pl2rts, 19 Apr 2025For me ultrawide is also useless as i have never used it. ... moreMain cameras are not 12mp anymore, there is no need for a 2x zoom, the main 50mp can do good 2x+ it on its own.

Even companies now use algorithms and AI to improve zoom capabilities, clearly 2x zoom sensor is useless.

pl2rts, 19 Apr 2025It's interesting that more of the flagship phones get ... moreSmaller phones now are more expensive to produce than bigger phones. That's why there are almost no 6.3-6.1" smartphones in these price categories.

Why no UW, why 2x zoom? Who need, main camera is good for 2x zoom, no IP68 ONLY 65.. bad Compact smartphone.

pricing will make or break this phone.

Get over yourselves. Obviously this is not a camera phone, not everyone is a "professional" photographer like people who comment here. 🙄

                          No ultra wide camera
                          Like seriously

Just like i have never used macro.
Telephoto at least get you some optical zoom and then some with digital zoom so i find it more useful.
Panorama pictures were fun like 15 years ago but now that ultra wide that replace it is not much used anyways.

there are times when you zoom in on objects you make pictures of then more zoom is a plus on that

Invetor, 19 Apr 2025the 101mm photos are surprisingly not bad but other than... moreThe main camera is smaller. Most probably the LYT700 or imx890. The telephoto will be much smaller and only 2x optical probably without OIS versus 3x optical on the Oneplus 13

It's interesting that more of the flagship phones get the around 6.1 to 6.3 inch screens but still nothing for budget to middle class in that size. Seems like they finally understand that there is a market for the more compact in size phones. But for some reason they still dont understand the point of more compact size. As there is no need for flagship specs on these and especially the performance as gamers want larger screen and for rest you dont need that large of a screen.
