Here's how thin the iPhone 17 Air is, in-hand

23 April 2025
It also gets compared to the other members of the iPhone 17 family.

Base model again 0.2mm thicker. Sure it’s not much but that was already the case with the iPhone 14 and iPhone 13, so they went from the iPhone 12 being almost thin, to the iPhone 17 being just average. And it is bigger as well, probably the same bezel size as 16 Pro now, whereas 15 and 16 had thicker bezels than the 15 Pro. I hope it is at least not heavier. But a thicker device with a case on makes one hand use more and more difficult.

Damn, this iPhone 17 Air is thinner than only some other "flagship" entire camera bumps !
The future will left chunky dated bricks behind.

      I like thicc though

In the mobile phone industry, a slim profile is not ergonomically optimal; a wider profile offers superior ergonomics.

Anonymous, 23 Apr 2025I've never use a case, or bumper, even when it was off... moreI prefer thin and wide phones, and light softcases This thinness is prone to pressure, so to be safe you still have to use a casing.

Anonymous, 23 Apr 2025We're going back to thin phones and the abysmal batter... moreNo, Apple and Samsung are. Tecno fit a 5200mAh Si/C battery into a 5.75mm phone so it's technically possible. Even major OEMs forget that most people put cases on their phones which usually just makes your phone a little large in the hand, and phones are already bulky+heavy as it is. A big yet slim phone in a case would have better ergonomics than a traditional big phone in a case would. I'd personally take a 6mm-6.5mm phone with 5200mAh battery over am 8mm-8.5mm 6000mAh phone for that reason alone, even if thermals and camera performance weren't as good

A thin iPhone? Well I sure don't remember seeing any thin iPhones being easily bent in the past..... /j

But to be fair I do not really like the new designs of the 17 series. Subjective of course.

And then spend 30 mins saying how much tech or innovation on how they get it to 5+mm.. whereby its is pretty much normal process in other phones.
