Developers (3rd party) will no longer have previews before/during betas, OEMs will.

With what? Fingerprint and password? Oops, you see we just ran into the first issue here, most people running into scams like it's free candy, don't use either of those and often even disable the lock screen entirely, one tap of the power button and you are just in their life.

"Samsung along with Knox provides one of, if not the best, security protection suites out there, actively helping users who don't deliberately disable it."

I know, and I've never said Samsung devices weren't secure, or that Knox is some fake thing that doesn't work, because it does and is a great feature. The problem is that users are all different and there will always be a ton of people that disable everything to download their "trusted" apps, you just said it yourself as well, that this is user error, which is what I've been saying, and that can happen on Android 10 the same way it can on Android 15.

You can't protect someone that doesn't want to, doesn't care to and doesn't how to protect themselves.

It requires deliberately navigating settings, ignoring warnings, and authenticating with your password or fingerprint. If users force past all that and can't read, well, Samsung tries to trust user choice, unlike Apple, which does not even allow sideloading (so these user just need an Iphone).

More importantly, you conveniently ignore its real power beyond basic sideload blocking: it stops USB attacks (like rubber duckies), scans for malware in attachment (like images) and blocks fake software updates.
And its advanced mode adds even more layers like : Turns on App protection, Blocks device admin apps, Blocks auto downloading attachment, Blocks hyperlinks and previews, Removes location data when sharing pictures, Blocks shared albums, and even Block 2G and unsecure Wifi connection.

Call/text scam/spam protection is already in most dialer apps, this is the most basic feature.

Samsung along with Knox provides one of, if not the best, phone security protection suites out there, actively helping users who don't deliberately disable it.

It tries to protect, but it doesn't actually. I'm sorry, but I see it first hand nearly every day, that people still manage to pack their phones full of viruses, and lose their data because they start playing certain obvious scam games that promise them a ton of money. Not all these games have to be downloaded, so they can just play them in the web browser as well.

It happens to Samsung phones on Android 14, Xiaomi phones on Android 14, and all kinds of phones, the brand and Android version doesn't matter, no reason to blame either of those.

"Heard of features like Samsung Auto Blocker? It's enabled by default since One UI 6, literally stopping users from installing apps outside official stores. "

Yeah, that exists on pretty much every phone, one tap to turn it off and the user is already off to go downloading anything they think they can trust.

"So yes, updated software absolutely does help save users from themselves. Maybe you'd know if you use updated devices with good features?"

Yeah, thanks but I'm not falling for scams. Anyways, I've got phones with Android 15 so there you go with the updated Android version. On my vivo X Note (A15) and Infinix Zero 30 (A13) I even have a feature turned on that blocks every call coming from a non-saved number, so not just private numbers but everything that I haven't saved before.

Heard of features like Samsung Auto Blocker? It's enabled by default since One UI 6, literally stopping users from installing apps outside official stores. Plus, newer Android versions bring Google's real-time AI detection to block scam texts and calls right on device.

And scammers can specifically target known security holes in older, unpatched software precisely because it makes scamming people easier.

So yes, updated software absolutely does help save users from themselves. Maybe you'd know if you use updated devices with good features?

Interesting but I've used a OnePlus 7T Pro (on Android 12) even this year, and both banking apps and Google Wallet worked perfectly, and that's a 6 year old phone.

"..updates are important to keep certain things going and specially for user protection in todays world full of scams"

No amount of software defense will ever be able to protect a user that doesn't know what they are downloading and what they are opening. Anyone can easily get scammed on any phone running any Android version, if they aren't careful.

software development apart from google people behind android is lagging.
others just rename feature added by google and apply theme and add lots of bloatware on phone and new os update is done.

c'mon manufacturers, why can't you just provide stock android for quicker updates rather than adding your bloatware and bugs over the top of android and wasting your devs time and money of your shareholders.

The way things are going they will have like 100 devices to update next year, it's impossible to optimize that many devices. What will happen is that only the S/Z line and maybe the a5x of the year will get looked after and every other device will become an afterthought. They need to either launch less devices or restructure their UI/OS division, cause it's a mess right now.

Why is this news? Every manufacturer develops software updates for the next phone coming out

How many people care about UI updates?

I can't recall noticing any differences over the last 5+ years.

Seems like I setup Novalauncher, display settings etc., gboard, and then don't really touch anything. The only updates I think I've noticed are to gallery/camera.

                                    Running before they can walk.

Poor Samsung loyals still wondering about One UI 7 and its stability and Samsung moves on to the best already.

Speaking as an "outsider" with barely any experience with One UI but on a hot take, from the videos I've seen, it just looks like a modern version of touch Wiz, still trying to do too many things and ending up bloating the phone.
