Weekly poll: would you buy a vivo X200 Ultra if you could? What about a vivo X200s?

27 April 2025
Alas, the company has not revealed plans for a global launch of one of the best camera phones of 2025.

And the second photo is completely fake. I don't like how the Chinese flagships take photos and I prefer how iPhones, Galaxies, and Pixel's take photos. To me they are lower quality, but without any "AI".

I'd buy any Chinese phone that actually works in North America, but they tend to be missing half the network bands.

ProMaxUltraAreBricks, 27 Apr 2025Giving my opinion ruffled some feathers, apparently. Funny... moreWhen someone drives on a road in the opposite direction to everyone else and claims to be the only one driving in the right direction, don't you think something is wrong?

Apply it to your case, and especially to your personal life.

I would consider buying X200 Ultra if there was a global version and I wasn't happy with my current phone.

It's just a regular unlimited plan, the fact that I can use it in the whole EU doesn't cost extra money, it just works like that. UK is also technically still part of the EU, when it comes to this, I know that because I've been there 2 years ago and my data worked perfectly, which is a big plus. My data plan is 4G only btw, as I have no need for 5G, so I don't feel like paying any extra for it.

The Chinese make some great camera flagships, but they use "AI" to repaint and output fake images.

Other do... moreXperia 1 VI, just like X200 Ultra, uses a regular periscope lens to enable macro capability. iPhone's 5x and Oppo's 6x cameras are *physically* unable to focus close because all the lens elements need to sit on top of the prism, and there's very little range for them to move back and forth for focusing to begin with.

"Weirdly the iphones pro review have zero mention of closeup shots capabilities nor photos"
That's because iPhone CANNOT shoot up-close without using an UWA camera. Its telephoto camera simply isn't designed for this purpose, you can easily check this by installing a third-party camera app on it and setting it to the minimum focus distance manually.

I think there's European commission directive that data plans should/must be usable in whole EU. I think there's also catch for how long we're allowed to stay abroad in EU and still be able to use the data plan for free, as if we're in our home countries..

In Germany unlimited plans are something like 35 Euro per month and upwards to probably smth like 50-60€. There are much cheaper ofc, but they have limits (5-10-15-20-30-50GB/month)... Still the more expensive the plan is, the cheaper you can get the smartphone with it. Even for 0€. Ofc if you are not using the contract to its fullest, the monthly price just counts as smartphone price payment..
                  Nothing is for free :(

In the whole EU? That must be very expensive. I have unlimited 5G in my country, but clearly not in all of the EU (for 9.99€ per month, and I find it already expensive).

And not every place in the EU provides good, stable 5G internet speed, especially in the Alps and 4G is slower than USB 3.2.

Stop arguing, USB 2.0 is unacceptable in 2025. It costs nothing to add it.

personally, x200s with global version is enough for me,it has pretty much everything that I need with good specs for the camera, processor and display also 4 OS updates is great so yeah it's my choice

I always have internet, as my plan includes unlimited data in the EU, if I were to travel outside of the EU, then I would just buy a sim card for travelers to have data. "with next to no resale value"

Still better than nothing and with that, you can always use them take advantage of Samsung trade-in bonuses when buying a new device (like trading a phone with no resale value, such as a China-only imported X200 Ultra, cough cough).

"instead of giving people what they actually"

I wanted open-type earbuds, and I got the Buds 3 while buying my 256GB S25. People can still try to sell them or, again, use them for Samsung trade-in bonuses.

"don't know a single person that is using their USB 3.0/3.1" / "already faster ways to transfer wirelessly"

What if you don't have internet access while traveling for exemple?
How do you transfer large files, such as long 8K log video footage, when you run out of storage? Bluetooth ? Ahah with its maximum speed of 50 Mbps : its slower than USB 2.0.
And USB-C 3.2 allows connecting many newer devices, like small portable SSDs.
Also, the fast USB-C 3.2 (+DisplayPort 1.2) allows for stable wired screen sharing and DeX, no need to always carry a full laptop.

yalim, 27 Apr 202518mm way too thick for a phone. This is a brickI mean you can't have BOTH top-tier cameras AND a thin phone unless you want to defy the laws of physics.

Me personally I don't care about thickness as long as that added volume is used for useful things, like a bigger battery, or bonkers camera setups or better cooling.

So are they losing money with the 256GB variants, is that what you think? No, they are selling it to you at the price that it's actually supposed to be at, and even with the thrown in extras, that get sold most of the time because the people buying the phones don't actually need the extras, they still earn a huge amount of profit.

The extras they thrown in always have a nonsensical "valued at" price of what they worth, but that's according to Samsung, the brand behind those products, of course they would say the extras worth a lot, but since a ton of people are getting them for free, what they are actually worth is basically nothing, with next to no resale value, because there is simply too much of it getting sold, with no one buying them, because it can be had for free, so it's just Samsung generating more electronic waste, instead of giving people what they actually no, a fast charging brick in the box, and the actual cable that supports such speeds.

"Who's actually buying that with its outdated USB 2.0.."

I don't know a single person that is using their USB 3.0/3.1 port for anything but charging, I have phones with such port and never used it for data transfer, there are already faster ways to transfer wirelessly.

Comparing the Ultra with the Ultra: The S25 Ultra starts at 256GB with a 1TB option all using UFS 4.0.

As for the smaller X200 Pro Mini with a great 1TB? Who's actually buying that with its outdated USB 2.0, old optical fingerprint scanner, still bulkier and not even being globally available?
