Motorola should take lesson from Samsung and stop making curved smartphone screens and offer 7 years of support for there smartphones. Curved screens are awkward and hard to hold onto. Google also offers 7 years of support and heck even Apple offers 7 years of support. Motorola is no threat to Samsung, Google, or Apple. Motorola should have gotten out of the smartphone market years ago.

Motorola should stop making curved screens.
              Difficult to hold.
              Many mistouches
Should focus on software improvement, especially the crashing camera app.

Like some upgrades, but at the same time, dislike some downgrades. Below were sort of bonus features which were not expected in edge 50 pro / price segment. Guess, motorola decided to cut off these:

                1. USB is now type 2.0, no display port (edge 50 pro had type c 3.1 with display port)
                2. Auto focus removed from selfie camera
                3. Main camera is now f/1.8 (edge 50 pro had f/1.4) and no laser AF

Edge 50 pro had better than expected (good) camera performance for the segment. Despite all above downgrades, if edge 60 pro has the same or better camera performance, then above camera related downgrades can be ignored.

I am curious to see if Edge 60 ultra will have Dimensity or SD!

There are many complaints in almost all edge 50 series (inculding ultra) that they have camera UI lag issues (when switching from main-to-UW) and also image processing lag. Don't know why it is not getting fixed. Especially pro & ultra is known to have good camera hardware and also good image output (after processing), but image processing lag is certainly a hindrance in considering these phones.

Wish they gave flat or all side even-curve display. It is easier to find non-glue type tempered glass

atichko, 25 Apr 2025Correct but that applies to almost all phones. When you bra... moreYes, but curved screens are more prone to cracking than flat screens. Besides, ever heard of mistouches in your pocket? Sure it happens with flat phones too, cos protective layers only protect from falls/scratches, not as much as mistouches, but again curved screens are more sensitive to it. Cases? Good luck finding the case you like that fits well the curved screen. Protective glass/films? Yeah, Most of them are insanely hard to come by, let alone fit unless you buy overpriced junk from the OG manufacturer, because "muh monkey can afford it"...

No need to sugarcoat the negatives of a curved screen, because this is a "modern trend". People can live without SD card and 3.5mm audio jacks as for those features the phones have advanced significantly in larger storage and quite an improved TWS earbuds to pair with, but screen repair that costs like 40-60% of phone value is not in everyone's pocket to splurge.

If curved screens wouldn't have so many cons attached to them, I would've switched years ago, but there is still a long way to pave to make them somewhat decent. That's like comparing processor air cooling vs liquid cooling, while liquid cooling has advanced significantly in performance and reliability from the last 5 years, they're still not as relialible as air cooling the same way curved screens aren't as reliable as the flat screens.

So far, quad curves look so much nicer than dual curves. Good move!

manufacturers are zte nubia & infinix & motorola
so motorola has achieved bezels perfection now

Obviously for unk... moreMaybe true but India is also a much bigger market meaning that, depending on the marketing strategy, it will get better stuff than elsewhere, just because of the potentially bigger profits. It's not only Motorola that does this. Living in Europe I do think the same way many times when I see the different or better specs that are aimed at other markets and think "why?". It is what it is.

Anonymous, 24 Apr 2025Yeah until it slightly drops on the floor and forces you to... moreCorrect but that applies to almost all phones. When you brake a screen, it will cost you a lot of money. That will only change if phone makers would make modular phones like the Fairphone brand where you can self repair your phone easily, even the screen. Till then it's a comment that isn't limited to these phones and brand. The message is always "don't drop it, don't brake it" but Murphy's Law dictates that shit can always happen.

Kigwa, 25 Apr 2025Why still ugliest camera design on the back. Always this de... moreDiscussing about design is always tricky, isn't it? Too me it works but you are correct that this will be the 3rd iteration of the same camera isle design. I like it as it isn't to harsh on the eyes like not with sharp edged isles or sharp edged separate camera rings like some brands do (and also do for years now without changing it). Difficult thing that is design...preferences...taste... I would say exactly the same about Samsung phones who are also so boring lately and I would get the same remarks that others like it.

xfrqnx, 25 Apr 2025they don't use flagship chip anymore? or there will an... moreMotorola rarely uses real top of the bill chip-sets but the ones they actually use don't disappoint me at all. A true flagship chip would also drive the prices much higher while maybe the materials and/or design might not resemble true flagship stuff so I thing they use the correct approach of using decent stuff instead of pure high-end stuff. It does the job very well and has enough power to survive a few major upgrades without crashing totally (A thing that I'm sure will happen with some brands offering 5-7 years support while using lower hardware. Can't wait to see how well these devices will fare after the 3rd or 4th major upgrade in terms of day-to-day experience and usability.).

Motorola became (again) my favourite brand. I love the edge series. My Edge 50 fusion is a fantastic phone for it's money. I love the usage of different materials for the back side as well. It's somewhat more "fresh" than the endless glass backs. I love the clean OS with just enough Motorola tweaks to customise it a bit without going all out. As far as their choices for the chip-sets I have no complaints either. The work fine, even more than that. Even the time I had with the Edge 50 Pro was a bless. Very well made phone (alu frame and vegan leather back) with great performance. The only thing that was/is only average is the battery performance. It's good but nothing to write home about. As I'm not a heavy user (gaming wise or in the photography department) I can't give a more decent point of view other than it's more than fine for me. I will surely see in a few months if there is some cash left in my wallet to replace the Edge 50 Fusion by the Edge 60 or 60 Fusion. I'm eager to see what Motorola understands with quad-curved as in the renders I still see normal edge screens (which is fine for me as I like such screens but I know that not everyone likes such formats). The software support is also something than be called "decent", at least in the Edge series. It's nice to see that they commit to 3 major upgrades and 4 years of security updates (even if they are bi-monthly which doesn't bother me). That's already a big step forward from the old "One major upgrade" and "2-3 years of security patches" (on a quarterly basis). Now they should commit equally on their G-series (the series that made me a fan in the past). And with my Edge 50 Fusion I can say that I do get the updates as promised.

                                    Why the curved screen ?

they don't use flagship chip anymore? or there will another version with flagship chip?
