Xiaomi ban was allegedly military ties. Which was also bogus. Trade war was not the reason for their bans. Are you forgetful and like to make things up? Maybe you should go back and read up on it.

That's what happens in a trade war. It has nothing to do with mobile sales. Who tried to ban Huawei when they had a contract with T-mobile in 2010? Nobody. Who is banning Motorola? Nobody.

This is huge for Xiaomi. I can't remember when Xiaomi was last market leader in China. It's traditionally been behind Huawei, Oppo & Vivo. I wish those Canalys reports were more detailed. Which are the models that drove sales for Xiaomi? Also, I wish we could find out how brands are doing beyond the top 5. I can never find that information

Anonymous, 29 Apr 2025https://www.nbcnews.com/tech/tech-news/us-removes-chinese-s... moreThat had nothing to do with cell phone. That was an escalation in the trade war started by this administration the 1st time they were in office. It's laughable you actually believe congress gathers to politic over cell phone sales like the gsm comment forum.

If chinese Xiaomi and few others chinese brands would be Available in US Apple could go nuts in US same as they can go nuts in China because home market is ruled by much better Chinese brands mostly Xiaomi and Huawei.

They prevented investors from buying stock. Xiaomi has never tried to sell their phones in the U.S. ZTE and Huawei were banned because of telecommunication technology. It had nothing to do with phones. ZTE still sells phones here. It's the cheap stuff. They've never offered their flagships. Who's fault is that? My fault, I guess.

Anyway. I think Xiaomi's EV's are definitely having a positive affect on their image as a whole.

Like what? The true fact that Apple has systematically complied with China strict regulations, purging its China App Store of all VPNs since 2017 and removing messaging apps, human rights-focused media and other services targeted by the China state for example.

I have nothing against the Chinese people, it's the actions of the China gov that one can defend.

An extremely selfish guy who's only here to spread hate/try to find someone who has the same ideas as him, not to genuinely share good ideas and have discussions.

It's like saying there is no competition at the bottom of the ocean amongst sea creatures

                                      Because eagles can't enter

Every country has it's own terms for entry but at the end of the day appeasing to the Chinese government as you say still allows for customers at the end of the chain to chose a smartphone of their liking

This isn't like Cuba where every car has to be from the 60s OEMs in china can compete with each our

The way of the government doesn't compete against consumer choices to the extreme

                                      Both can coexist
