Nikojas, 02 May 2025If they release it before mid June I guess they can escape ... moreYeah, they might want to chase the deadline
But then again this is Sony. Their management is so conservative that I have a feeling they would just decide to exit the EU market.

rohitmishra, 02 May 2025Sony haters, this is the post you've been waiting for.... moreAnd Sony UI looks like Cyanogen 15 years ago. Very weak in today's standards.

After the stunt with the Full HD display, I won't buy another Sony smartphone. Ever.
I lost any respect for that brand. That was too low.

rohitmishra, 02 May 2025Sony haters, this is the post you've been waiting for.... moreI think the price is still the biggest issue. I've had Sony phones for years & the only thing that would make me switch is either a fairphone that's actually decent, or Sony stopping production.
But honestly I'll be annoyed if they don't either:
- Lower the price to £900-£1000 max.
- or if they're going above £1000, then at least give us a 6500-7000 mah battery, 16gb ram option and some more interesting colours & active cooling because the cooling in Sony phones is generally pretty mediocre in my experience.

Sony haters, this is the post you've been waiting for. Come on, chime in with your special comments. Let me help you:
Oh it still doesn't have a beautiful hole in the display
Oh it still has the headphone jack
Oh it still has expandable storage
Oh they're still making phones
Oh they're still alive
Go on. Have fun. 🥱

In Switzerland, there has only Sony Xperia as a Japanese mobile brand. I have the 1 VI but the new 1 VII, especially the purple one, makes me really want it. GSM Arena is really the best site for mobiles. Sony could stop selling its mobiles in Europe has still not been denied. There is indeed a British European benchmark number that has been found but the phone could only be sold in Great Britain and not in the EU (. by the way, in Switzerland we are not in the EU either!). We should know everything by the time the announcement is made in two weeks at the most. Otherwise, either continue with my current 1 VI or import the 1 VII, for example, from Japan or England with risks for the French language, WIFI Calling and 4G 5G bands

potato4k, 02 May 2025Will Sony be able to do 5 years of software support as dict... moreIf they release it before mid June I guess they can escape the deadline for this new eu policy. But 5 OS updates would finally make the Xperia line more appealing.

why all manufacturers got carried by Apple's model of yearly update? if theres minute amount of changes, why bother releasing it every year? they should just do a update model every 2 years and optimizing released hardware in the meantime.

Price will be $2000, and will come with only 2 years of major os upgrade.
Ferrari is expensive, and it comes with great support.
Sony is expensive, but it comes with much worse support.
