Anonymous, 05 May 2025Did you even know that Microsoft and Sony charge you $119.8... moreYes, but lower price does not equal higher value.

For the longest time, the better value was on Early-PS3 to Mid-PS4 as they gave more games, better games, and for free. Then it was about equal with the PS4 Pro/XB1X/XSS era. Now with the PS5/XSX era, the Sony offer is good for "legacy users" or the Microsoft offer is good for Cloud Streaming people. The Nintendo offer is only good for Mario Kart/Maker/Smash/Splatoon online players, or for those who like their Retro Titles (NES to N64). But these are playable via emulation.

So all things considered, value is subjective. Each platform offers something unique at differing prices.

But again, most physical copies are generally printed and recorded locally. For European Union market in European Union, for Russian market in Russia, for Chinese market in China, fr Japanese market in Japan etc. So they are a product of those sovereignties.

If not, Microsoft still gets money from customers who buy its games on other platforms, so it'll be fine. There is no reason to discontinue the Xbox consoles unless the sales are extremely low such as less than 10 million units.

The Nintendo Switch Online membership is $19.99 per year, and the family plan allows you to pay less than $5 per year.

Gaming Companies from MOST to LEAST greedy list:

                    - Intel (they're mostly irrelevant, thank goodness)
                    - Apple (takes +80% of profits due to iOS 30% Tax)
                    - Nexon (just look into it)
                    - Nintendo (they also sue their Fans)
                    - Game Freak (same as above)
                    - Konami (you like gambling?)
                    - Roblox (they're so suss)
                    - Microsoft (just bad, plain bad)
                    - EA (legendary reputation)
                    - Nvidia (half innovation, double price)
                    - Activision+Blizzard (cold people)
                    - Tencent (not much to say)
                    - Sony (oh, how the mighty have fallen)
                    - Xbox (seperate division, each year getting worse)
                    - Rockstar (from PS2 era, to now PS5 era. Shakes fist)
                    - Gameloft (historical company but in-app purchases)
                    - Google (Stadia Notwithstanding)
                    - Square Enix (not good, not horrid)
                    - Ubisoft (almost worthwhile)
                    - Bungie (just a boring company)
                    - Bethesda (at least we get bangers)
                    - Sega (not greedy, not innovative)
                    - Epic Games (they're getting there)
                    - AMD (innovative, affordable)
                    - Capcom (they've come around)
                    - From Software (yay!)
                    - CD Project (cyber flunkt)
                    - Hello Games (legends)
                    - Valve (good guys)
                    - GoG (best guys)

Devices made in Asia, software made around the globe just like most of R&D, advertising made on internet... Nothing really made in US... BUT THEY NEED TO BUMP PRICE DUE TO USA TARIFFS! :D

Jokes aside, if anyone wonder why they do that: Microsoft want to move away from hardware game systems(distribution, licensing etc) and most of people say that this is probably last xbox they ever made so they want to make as much money as possible from it and well, tariffs are good excuse to do it.

If you use a Steam Deck OLED and buy Microsoft games, Microsoft get your money. If you use a Nintendo Switch 2 and buy Microsoft games, Microsoft gets your money. If you use a PC and buy Microsoft games, Microsoft gets your money. Microsoft is a big third-party publisher with its own consoles. Microsoft's position in gaming is now very solid.

If they lose to Valves Steam Os on handhelds they will lose it on desktops and laptops too.

Valve could with launching Steam Os for pc to attack hard on Microsoft because Windows and software around is the thing that makes huge amount of money to Microsoft.

Valve could release Steam Os based console-pc hybrid series similar to Xbox Series S and X for similar price.

I mean, if the Nintendo Switch 2 doesn't exist, the PS5 version may sell 6 million copies. Microsoft doesn't care, though, as it gets money from the customers who buy its games on the PS5 and the Nintendo Switch 2.
