You can play games on both consoles and PC, by the way. There is no need to restrict yourself. If you have a PS5, it doesn't prevent you from playing games on your PC.

I was a PC gamer, but went to console because console games were not available on PCs. But now, when most console game developers are porting their games to PCs, and the ever increasing prices and devs trying to make you re-buy your old games instead of providing backward compatibility, I'm considering going back to PC. And the good thing is, now we are at the age where a portable PC gaming device is a possibility.

This is simply opportunistic.
The tariff is for goods entering the US. Why is it then the price increase is applied worldwide? Pure money grab. Microsoft is just grasping at straws because nobody's buying the Xbox anymore.

The Xbox was outsold by the PS2. The Xbox 360 was outsold by the Wii. The Xbox One was outsold by the PS4 and Nintendo Switch. The Xbox Series X/S were outsold by the PS5. Microsoft will be fine, though, and now it's a third-party developers with its own consoles.

I grew up on consoles, I took a leap of faith a while back and made a gaming PC - at first I wasn't convinced I made the right choice so I kept Xbox Live on my Xbox. I quickly got used to PC - not having to pay a subscription just to play with other people, so when they boosted the price of Live and offered no additional benefits I left; this BS right here was the final nail in the coffin for me: I thought they were greedy before, this is just disgusting.

So the US intruduce tariffs that should only affect their consumers and that makes prices everywhere else go up? Clearly just Microsoft taking an opportunity to increase prices with an excuse that hopefully no one thinks too deeply about. This is like when the Americans introduced tariffs on washing machines and companies increased the prices of tumble dryers because they could get away with it. No one's buying their console anyway so this certainly won't help sales.

These tariffs are going to cause a global recession. Tech has already been increasing in price and is out-of-reach for most people living outside the West and Europe, but now it's going to be impossible to buy.
