Apple to bring back battery case for iPhone 17 Air

05 May 2025
Apple's thinnest phone to date will unsurprisingly need an external battery pack to last a full day for more demanding users.

It does exactly, which only shows how pointless this device will be to begin with.

"A" will buy iPhone 17 air for it's new innovation "slimness"
Then s/he will realize that the phone has poor battery for a day.
So s/he will buy the battery case making the phone fat ajd call the battery case "innovation".
Apple will smile having such brainless customers

So it's US only I guess, since there are no SIM card slots

Then what would be the point in buying the Air model?
Just get the regular sized phones 🙄.

can't they use the new silicon ion battery's that the Chinese are using? they could have fitted at least 5200mah

Proof that battery technology has reached a peak in developing and rolling out better efficiency. That is not to say the industry is stuck, but it is obviously at a peak. Hopefully, we will see Panasonic's battery division and Samsung's solid state battery tech soon.

DarlingYext, 05 May 2025I mean that makes sense, as they kinda have to for that dev... moreDoesn't that kinda... you know... defeats the purpose of the thinnest phone? It's like "we made a phone as thin as credit card!" Nevermind it only lasts for 4 hours and then needs charging, but you can also put on this ugly 8mm thick case to give it some more battery which is delivered via wireless charging so yay even more losses. It's just so funny and total waste of resources.

Besides, thin phone doesn't solve a single problem current phones have, which is SIZE. By making them thin you're not solving the gigantic screen, you're just making it more bendable in a permanent way. You know what people do like? Smaller phones. Sure they may not sell millions, but at least those that do want them so they can at least pocket them can buy them. But instead, companies just discontinue anything that doesn't sell in hundreds of millions as "it didn't sell". Heh.

DarlingYext, 05 May 2025I mean that makes sense, as they kinda have to for that dev... moreSlim phone + bulky battery case doesn't make sense at all. Especially as the combo probably costs as much as the Pro that has 2 more cams and is probably thinner.

I mean that makes sense, as they kinda have to for that device. Samsung should do the same for the S25 Slim.
