just to correct your info above. if the app works by holding it to your ear to speak it will be using the proximity sensor not the accelerometer.

The Google App updated yesterday, this is now working.
You go into settings within the App and switch it on, it works quite well unless you are in a noisy environment.
I use Linux, Apple software doesn't even run on it, I have a partition with XP, iTunes and Outlook which I boot into now and then for the sole purpose of syncing my iPhone.
VLC is way better than bloated Winamp with it's nag screens and petty restrictions unless you upgrade to pro.
The music I rip and the ringtones I make in Linux I save to a FAT partition so I can import it into iTunes and then do with it whatever I want, it does a pretty good job of finding cover art.
I don't bother burning CD's as I can dock my iPhone in my car, in my bedroom and in my living room and have access to 1879 songs.
I also transfer files to and from Linux by using bBase Discover, which let's me use my iPhone as a wireless network drive.

I've got 12GB of music on my iPhone, I bought 2 songs from iTunes and they were free.
Being registered makes it easier to get apps from the phone, then again you can also jailbreak it and install whatever you like.
Have you stopped selling Nokia's too?
You have to register to upgrade the maps, use the music store or buy an Ngage game.
You are aware that developers of iPhone apps get 70% of the revenue generated from App store.
How much do developers for Symbian or Windows Mobile get from sites that offer "free" (i.e. pirated) software and make money from some pretty dodgy advertising.
How much do they make from cheap disks loaded with cracked software which are available in many countries?
Why don't you think about issues like this when you whine about DRM, by not selling iPhones you have cut yourself out of profit, you would have lost potential customers who would go somewhere else, rather than being told what to buy by you.
it isn't about that. it is the whole principles of it all.
plus i use winamp and have zero interest/tolerance towards apple's many attempts at a takeover of my pc.
the only apple application i am interested in is quicktime- yet the apple updater now forces me to have itunes with it(to which i promptly delete the registry keys- making itunes useless)and it doesn't stop nagging me on how i have to download safari with itunes & quicktime package.
and i don't need an ipod or an iphone- i got a much better device with an actual sound chipset on it- the creative X-FI.
i have expandable memory and wi-fi on it- so i have no need for any other products. plus the X-FI crystallisationmake the music sound good in my sennheiser HD505's
as for Nokia- i encourage people to use google maps- that way all they pay for is the maps downloading on the fly.
DRM is an issue that is stealing our liberty as loyal(and mostly legal) users. if it actually let you do what you bought it for- then i wouldn't have a problem with it- but i have had issues with music and media DRM and do everything i can to avoid DRM that stops or limits you.
akso where is your comments on the lack of features that is expected of a typical 3G phone? mms, bluetooth transfer, video calling(unnessesary for me- but i expect to have it if iam going to buy a 3G device)
typical apple fanboys- too busy running around with their pants off

registering with apple takes seconds, you only have to give them id and address info so that you can purchase from itunes, makes sense.
i buy music soi can listen to it on ANY program/platform i desire.
if i digital download- i expect to be allowed to pop it onto a cd and listen to it on my cd player in my car.
i am not "renting" my music.
so don't try to feed me codswallop.
and i have gone through the activation process before. 3 times.
adding DRM to a piece of hardware is ridiculous. Apple may say it is for itunes- but you watch- you will be the first to be hit with their new form of advertising.
i congratulate apple for building enormous hype. but next time- make the phone USEABLE and actually worth it's money- which when you compare it to any other 3g phone- is very lacking in the important features- like mms and bluetooth file transfer.

15 year olds can't sign contracts.
Not many 15 year olds have the money to afford an iPhone.
The articles you link to, show how flawed your trolling assertions are, it's simple maths, 15 year olds do not make up such a large segment of the smart phone market.
Google recognizes this, banks recognise this (check some of the share trading apps available), developers recognise this, many of the apps are superior to those found on other platforms.
You seem to think that people now using iPhone's came from a vacuum, have never used other phones before and are unfamiliar with the software you mentioned.
More flawed off topic assertions.

Crying? I`m laughting my .. out :D, the way i do when i make fun of a couple of friends who have/use the Iphone and start to brag about how fabolous it is.
If they wanted to take over the market, why don`t they do it? Why don`t they realease a real smarthphone that can do all i said before? Hell, Steve Robs cand`t get more than one phone on the market per year for that matter ? Because they can`t and won`t. Because they can use there marketing scheme to fool any 15 year old kid to buy a Iphone 3G for the next 5 years. Hell, thanks to there marketing scheme, they can even make a toilet called IS*it with buttons on it and apple fans will buy it. Try that on a Windows user and he will put a middle finger right in Steve Balmer`s face.
Symbian is a mobile only operating sistem, OSX is both...where is the point?
If The Iphone is the best internet device, then why does SkyFire beat both Opera and Safari (google a review for it) + it has flash and everything you need for a true browsing experince? Couple that with a HTC Touch HD and you have a internet device that blows the Iphone out of the water.
And i don`t care about that POS N96 (althought the N95 was good), the 5800 Tube has touchscreen and all the functions that are missing from the Iphone + better camera and costs half the price:D. Again, couple that with SkyFire and...
What chart is a fake? The one from marketshareonline or the one from wiki? The one from wiki is taken from here : http://www.canalys.com/ and marketshareonline is the best statistic site regarding it.

Expert, 17 Nov 2008Interesting graph, but its a FAKE! A fake, why?
I suggest you take that up with Soulstorm he's the one who posted it.
It seems to show what's being used to access websites, of course Windows Mobile and X-Box would be bundled in with Windows.
It seems Symbian users don't use the web much or it's not counted as a serious OS, which I guess is why Google and others don't develop applications for it.
I might email some of my work colleagues with the link from the 5000 contacts I have synced with exchange on my iPhone.

iPhone is the best touch screen smartphone out there. It is simply ment to be that. Not a camera or something else, but a perfect media, internet phone.
Just imagine what would be if they relased the iPhone as thay could?! With a perfect camera and video call and other things for you don`t even know that exists! It is simple marketing and your luck that they are doing it in steps. You are crying even this way. What would be than?
Poor litle N96orewhatever owners.... So much money and still you have a dumb little phone.
