Bot10Exists, 12 hours agoa 5 year old chip? what are they thinking? It's a 5-year old ex-flagship SoC. In terms of performance not much different than MediaTek Dimensity 8200. And it will be the first Infinix device using Qualcomm silicon since ages ago

Very good. Its infinix so it should be under $250. Good for switch and windows emulator adreno 6 series good turnip.

Zero, 12 hours agoSD 888 with proper cooling is pretty decent deal. At lease ... moreBoth dimensity 8300 and sd 888 are inferior to dimensity 8100 you guys should look at efficient curve instead of peak perfomance, sd 888 use 10W+ no phone can sustain that power, reasonable power is around 5W, any soc with more perfomance at that power is better.
Here you can do comparison.

Rolly Ghiz, 7 hours agoTrue. I mean this chipset, though 5 years old, is comparabl... moreIf you look at geekbench score you won't understand anything but if you have basic knowledge Of Soc you will know something like Dimensity 7400, sd 7s gen 3 and Exynos 1580 are much better than sd 888.
Sd 888 has cortex A78 manufactured by Samsung 5nm that's slightly worse than Tsmc 6nm.
Both sd 7s gen 3 and Exynos 1580 has cortex A720 core which is faster than A78 and use less power, that plus better manufacturing process made these soc superior.
Older soc like dimensity 8100 already was superior to sd 888 at same power like 6W Sd 888 would score 3000 in Geekbench and 8100 3800 that's roughly 25% in favour of Dimensity 8100. Dimensity 7400 use better manufacturing process so it would probably be 30% or more faster.

Dust 'em down - as goo... moreTrue. I mean this chipset, though 5 years old, is comparable to the Exynos 1580 that's powering the all new Galaxy A56, while being significantly better than the likes of the 7s Gen 3 and even the Dimensity 7400.
Personally, I feel this is a wise choice, especially for budget and midrange devices, instead of using rebranded chipsets that's exactly the same as it's predecessor.
The only downside I can think of is software compatibility and new tech like ray tracing that's being implemented in newer chipsets

I remember years ago hearing of a concept phone by Tecno that had a Snapdragon 888 (i don't think they ever revealed it though) so maybe it's related to that...
Or Qualcomm somehow still has new 888s in inventory. If that's the case i can't wait for the Infinix Note 60 powered by a Snapdragon 732G 🤭

This is most likely a stock clearing thing. Qualcomm aren't gonna sell many of these chips anymore so they probably started giving it away for dirt cheap. Infinix aren't going to sell millions and millions of tablets so the low stock won't be an issue. Plus the marketing of using a snapdragon 8 chip is good for them

Definitely a good enough SoC for a tablet, but only if Infinix gets the cooling right, and then they price it right as well. However Infinix and a flagship Snapdragon SoC, even if it's an old one, seems unlikely.

To be fair, the SD888 is still a capable gaming chipset in 2025.
Emphasis on "capable". Not great, not bad. Just there. Also it has been a flagship before so it still has the great optimizations in its name in terms of applications. But dang that chip runs HOT.

A chipset from 2020 with 33W charger for 10000 mAh ? I don't think infinix is trying to make sales
