Infinix Xpad GT is coming this month with a weird chipset

Vlad, 09 May 2025

Infinix launched its first tablet, the Xpad, last year, and back in March we heard that it was working on the Xpad GT, due to become its first gaming-oriented tablet. This is real and will be launching by the end of the month alongside the GT 30 Pro smartphone that was seen in the Geekbench database last month rocking the Dimensity 8350 SoC.

But it's not just the smartphone and the tablet - Infinix will also release the GT Buds with 30dB ANC and a low-latency Game Mode, Zclip earbuds with a clip-on design and 6.5-hour battery life, and GT power bank, which supports 55W multi-device fast charging and AI thermal control. A portable cooling fan also seems to be in development.

Thus, Infinix will have a very numerous GT family. The Xpad GT comes with a very strange chipset choice - the Snapdragon 888, straight out of 2020. It's paired with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. The tablet also has a 144 Hz refresh rate screen, a 10,000 mAh battery with 33W wired charging support, eight speakers, and of course the Folax AI assistant on board. It will be optimized for larger-screen interactions and multitasking.

SD 888 with proper cooling is pretty decent deal. At lease better than Dimensity 8100. But of course far inferior than Dimensity 8300

a 5 year old chip? what are they thinking?
