Samsung could have likely licensed the technology as well, but they have their own silicon anode material they developed from the ground up. If they were just creating these batteries for phones like the others, I think we would have seen it long ago. These batteries are being used for other electronics too.

why is a 3.9mm thicknes useful??? a under 5mm one with a decent 5500mAh would be way better. IMHO a stupid approach. How's it possible that HONOR can make a 4.4mm V3 with a 5150mAh Battery and Samsung, who owns Samsung SDI, can't do it?

Totally agreed, using the same 4400Mah in 2025 is a joke, no use to have the thinnest profile when the fone cannot even last a full day for moderate user.
They have been using the same battery from 5 years ago since Fold2, Samsung's refusal to change is their downfall, looks like I have to wait another year before I will upgrade my Fold4 :((

If this is true, I will be pretty excited. It's finally catching up with Chinese foldables portability-wise.

Imo it's stepping stone to the bifold design, which fixes the aspect rstion (when fully open) to something useful).
But until then we'd get a few more terrible single-folds and then see them retire

Candybar phones could fold vertically for a way now useful screen area. I don't get having a wide screen that's only book-size height and impossible to hold. The fold paradigm is still wrong for actual use.

If you have the money, there is almost no reason to buy the S25 Edge. This is a foldable that's insanely slim as well and you'll get so much more.

I didn't see this combo for... more1) Ice wrote it is expected to use the new battery technology. The only new battery technology Samsung has that I know of is an all solid state battery and a Silicon Carbon Nano-composite battery. This may not be a normal 4400mah battery.
2) 2025 is projected to be a slow year for foldables. 2026 is expected to be a turnaround. One year won't hurt. Z6 sales already outsold the Z5 after a slow start. Z7 will do better.

The Oppo Find N5 is the latest foldable from Oppo, which this'll directly compete against.
