who buys these phones?
expensive
very china centric
unpolished everywhere
non-existent long term support
obviously not for professional photographers or regular users
a very curious device for a very small market
it's cool that chinese companies experiment like this, sometimes they're the only ones who do these days, but maybe there's a good reason western companies don't bother with devices like these?

A wider 24 lens, you get more diffusion not light from outside the subject. If you were to crop the 24mm to 35 you will have less accuracy less contrast and less pure capture of that desired area. That's splitting hairs for phone photography maybe, but that is the like of thing going into it perhaps.

PLEASE on your review state if the night mode has adjustable exposure duration and what's the max value of it, please, I can't find this info anywhere

Or just stretch your arms , you get a 33-34mm equivalent
I say because mine is 23mm too.

35mm is good for studio shot. Not proper for outdoors like street photography. For this the photocameras have as most adequate the 24mm.

X200 pro shows digital zoom of 818 is much weaker , since it has 2x2 ocl.
          Something 900 gladly lacks.

Anonymous, 19 hours agoi've watched plenty of reviews, the smaller sensor has... moreThe correct way to compare it to put 100U closer to subject, so both can get exactly same frame. Not side by side, nor digital zoom.

If S25 U had 1/1.56" instead of 1/1.3" , you all would be still making scandal. Just like will be done when pixel 10 comes without 1/1.3" from pixel 9 but with 1/2" instead

ProMaxUltraAreBricks, 17 hours agoWhy bother reviewing this fake flagship phone? Get a rea... moreeh, that's just your opinion, and this phone is definitely 100% flagship material, in that it's better than the likes of the Samsung S25 Ultra....

and some of your points are just plain weird... not everyone needs "good resale value", for one. Android phones almost always lose a lot of value once resold anyway. In my country, Vietnam, you can literally pick up a Samsung Z Fold 4 or Flip 5 for just 350, 450 USD or so. Meanwhile resold iPhone 11 Pro phones are still going around for roughly 400 USD in here, LOL.

And people who are the target audience of this phone are 100% *not* the "average user"... The "average user" would go for an iPhone or Samsung (or maybe Xiaomi/Oppo/OnePlus) instead.

About missing network bands - that's mostly for Western audiences, I think. Here in Vietnam, geeky tech people use China-exclusive phones all the time just fine, they can make phone calls and use 5G and such.

finally, your definition of "expensive e-waste" is a little bit loose. It's not like the phone is totally unusable.

jiyen235, 18 hours agoI highly doubt anyone, in good faith, is saying that the LY... moreYeah it's obvioulsy superior if both shoot at 35mm (with a crop on the LYT-900 although the difference is not big from a couple of comparison reviews I've seen) but overall it's obviously a weaker sensor. I don't think it's any better though than Nubia's main sensor on the z70s ultra hardware wise.

Overall, I think it's the way forward to use two good sensors like this as the top sensors can't open a huge gap in practice on the main sensor. The replacement cost of the two LYT-818 sensors (main + ultrawide) is actually less than the replacement cost of the one LYT-900 on the Oppo find x8 ultra and Xiaomi 15 ultra. Therefore, companies can get two excellent sensors for the price of just one top level sensor.

There are disadvantages to this camera setup in video though in my opinion. The default video camera is the ultrawide for the x200 ultra and this can't compete for details with the LYT-900 on Oppo and Xiaomi. It also gives a distorted view as it's too wide. The main camera then has a very narrow field of view so it's not that suitable for shooting in many situations. I think for photos it's a good choice but for video it's a little less good.

                  Finally

Why bother reviewing this fake flagship phone?

Get a real flagship that fully supports everything EVERYWHERE, like a true flagship should.
Seriously, GSMArena reviewing Chinese phones is useless, unless reviews were written in Chinese for them.

As for this, not even an "Ultra" brick? You pay a lot of money for a huge phone thick camera bump and a camera "upgrade" no average user even notices (only the uncomfortable bump size).
But yes, there are many "great" features: missing network bands outside China, zero real warranty or support, bad update policies and absolutely zero resale value.
                    Basically, it's expensive e-waste.

Anonymous, 19 hours ago200 pro with same wide and periscope of this one got humili... moreI highly doubt anyone, in good faith, is saying that the LYT-818 is a better sensor than the LYT-900, it simply is not true.

However, the 35 mm LYT-818 cam on the X200 Ultra is FAR superior to a 23mm LYT-900. If you're into 23 mm shots? Sure, go ahead and get a Find X8 Ultra, but if you're into taking nice looking photographs, you'd want a more zoomed in focal length and the X200 Ultra provides that.

The phones with 1 inch sensor beat x200 ultra at 23mm since vivo crops from ultrawide but latest update made the gap smaller
At 14mm x200 ultra destroys any other phone.

This phone would've been perfect, had it featured a 35mm LYT-900 and an 18 mm ultrawide lens instead of 14 mm. This would've made the main sensor a proper compact camera experience and 18 mm UW would've served a much better video-only solution, but I guess Vivo wants to leave the room for upgrade for the upcoming X300U.

Eyaddy, 20 hours agoThe Xiaomi is competitive in the main camera sensor and the... moreThe Xiaomi's main issue is a lack of consistency, 3-4/10 times it'll give you a shot that blows all of the other phones away, 5-6/10 times the phone will give a good result. The rest will be mid or bad.

The Oppo however is a truly splendid cameraphone. The zoom cams, although not the greatest on paper, are still mighty impressive and come quite close to the Vivo, although still not quite as great, they're still amazing, especially if Oppo doesnt scrub the details away at night. But yeah, the Vivo's UW cam is the best in the industry rn. Besides that, the Oppo's nearly on par with Vivo I'd say, if you prefer Oppo's style the Vivo will look bad to you.

At the end of the day, although the Vivo is overall the better choice, if you prefer one phone's style, that phone will be king for you. These are 3 excellent phones and depending on your style/focal length preference, you should go for either one of them.
