12 September, 2013
The iPhone 5S won't store fingerprint images on the phone's chip, but only encrypted data.

yeah, 12 Sep 2013wow. thats a lot of work just to unlock a phoneNot just to unlock your phone. Hackers who would get access to a lost phone can go to any extent to use the data on the phone. Imagine someone calling your friends to deceive them into providing your personal details (which later can be used for a variety of frauds). This is just the tip of an iceberg though

I really like the fact that Apple is indeed very particular by providing proactive security measures to encrypt and save the fingerprint image to the chipset, rather than copying it to their servers or saving it to a drive. Kudos to Apple on this one. Hopefully, you have enough features using the touch ID feature to validate the point of having it as an addition, or else, it will just be considered a gimmick

Even if it is saved in SoC, iOS will read it... If it can be read by a software that is connected in a network, it can be hacked...

fingerprint api could be reverse engineering by special tools. I could do it. Moreover, to cheat the scanner, just put the iphone with a special chemistry liquid where the trace of the finger is visilbe, you copy it on a special paper, and you have a 100% perfect match of the finger to simulate it and pass the passcode. McGyver do it jajajaa

Anonymous, 12 Sep 2013What u on about in my country we never have our fingerprint... moreFor start: I said, in some country, not your country. Next: I have made a reply on a post about NSA in collection of ppl finger prints, it has nothing to do with someone might take your finger to steal your phone so your reply is really out of topic. Lastly, I didn't mention anything good about finger print for login because I don't care about it.

Ok, so if anyone wore to commit a crime and left a fingerprint but wasnt on any other police database, and the police would knock on his door busting for an arrest, it wouldnt be Apple s contribution, would it ?
