This phone was on my list but the price is ridiculous. I can afford it. However I don't think it costs that much.

USD 800 for a phone ? No, thanks.
They should've drop the price to USD 450 - 550 to win the market. Nowadays I see many change their phone twice a year and actually looking for a reasonable price to change.

          Think about it, HTC.

If it comes out with no micro sd card, then it will make my choice very easy between it and the note3.

If this is true about using snapdragon 600 instead of the 800 like the note III and only a 4mp camera. I will save my money. What was going to be a front runner against samsung is now lagging behind. I would rather have my note II. They should have gotten a string with 2 cans.I would have been more impressed. Well looks like nothing gets my money this year. Maybe next year someone will do something impressive.

Been waiting for more info on the hTC ONE MAX. This is bad news
hTC must listen to potential customer feedback.
For the UK hTC ONE MAX should be:
Snap Dragon 800, Quad Core 2.3 cpu
                        2 / 3 Gb RAM
If the back is a removable cover then, Single sim slot with SD / Micro SD card slot
If the back is a removable cover then expose the battery so making it removable
Screen keep it at 5.9" but must have top end multitasking functions, otherwise what's the point of 5.9"
I am looking for new phone, Still running my iPHONE 3Gs, which is on its way out.
so coming form IOS to Andriod due to the hTC ONE MAX, and this is the best hTC can do? if hTC does not make the best phone they can make, as above, I will take my £ GBP wait for NEXUS 5 or ACER LIQUID S2, I think the above spec is what most people would want from this phone and make APPLE step up next year with a bigger iPHone 6.

One is good, but if you rest on your laurels, it's one step forward and two steps back. I don't understand how these people think. Last year's processor. They've probably caught the iPhone mentality. You can't improve on perfection.

For this to be a true sucess it needs an SD card slot and a large enough battery for the phone to match the Note 2 in terms of battery life. What would really make it stand out from the crowd for me, is if it is water resistant like the Sony Xperia Z Ultra. However, one thing is for certain I am not buying a phone at full price with last year's processor in it. I suspect many other people will feel same. Of course what will ultimately kill it totally is if no offical announcement is forthcoming very soon as all the other comparable devices will come to market and this will just be a rumour. I might wait for a superior phone, assuming it is of course, if it is confirmed, but I most certainly will not delay buying a Note 3 based on rumors of a phone that, could get theoretically cancelled.

This is just wrong . A huge phablet like the max needs a snapdragon 800 CPU ....how can HTC do this to us .?!

Snapdragon 600. And everyone else is 800. Still 4MP camera. This is what you call economical suicide. Good luck.

Why there are still people who spend so much money for phones?Even apple has cheaper phones that get renewed every year.It is unhealthy wastefull addiction and offensive for the poor ones, thankfully there are reasonable choices to justify the rest of the mobile fans.

How about keep the size and sexiness of the One S. It has one of the best slimness tops and sexy smooth feels. Maximise the screen size to 4.5 – 4.7 like the Moto x has without making the unit bigger. Though it’s already good, beef up the One S chip set, increase the ram to 1.5 -2GB and put in an SD card and optional removable battery perhaps. No blink. Result: Pocket friendly – maximum screen – potent performance = Winner. One mini is close but very different. You could even have a coupled of coloured bases like Nokias Android sample
