Anonymous, 24 Sep 2013First of that 64bit chip-set is made using samsung's 28nm g... moreYou are so, so horribly wrong. 64 bit CPU and OS means the transfers between RAM and CPU are 64bit wide instead of 32, which improves performance in certain RAM-intensive applications. The ability to use more than 4GB of RAM is a second benefit.

harlekkin, 24 Sep 2013SHOW me your research which says you absolutely NEED 4GB fo... moreNo wonder you're misguided, I never said that the 64bit chip absolutely need 4GB of ram. Lol I was just pointing out that it would only be really useful if it has more than 4GB of ram. And how much ram does the iphone has? 1? Lol

Here's some expert opinion for you to chew on:
"There is no benefit of using 64-bit in the mobile arena simply because onboard device memory is still low and biggest advantage of 64-bit is having access to more memory addressing space," said Jordan Edelson, CEO of Appetizer Mobile, which has written apps for the National Basketball Association, CityJet, and others. "At the moment, we don't see any benefit for our applications to move to 64-bit."

"For all the noted new features of the iPhone 5S, this 64-bit switch is almost entirely marketing fluff. It’s not going to be the key to the SoC’s higher performance. That’ll come from architectural improvements Apple integrates into the phone’s handling of 32-bit code for at least the next 6-12 months." extremetech.com

So, has it gotten through your thick skull already? A little thanks would suffice if it has. ;)

so now please stop bashing each other.

Anonymous, 24 Sep 2013First of that 64bit chip-set is made using samsung's 28nm g... more64-bit ARM has more registers that are wider. In a properly designed chip, it generally helps with performance.

I remember seeing some x86-64 benchmarks that got a 20+% boost just from 64-bit mode. Occasionally, a program would slow down under 64-bit, but anything significant was rare except on a 64-bit Pentium 4 (not properly designed).

"fact that the typical viewing distance is just over 30 cm's on a smartphone, 440ppi becomes somewhat unnecessary. I would say that 330ppi is ideal,"

Your "fact" is wrong. St.Jobs just brutally misled you (again).
"Raymond Soneira, president of DisplayMate Technologies, has challenged Apple's claim. He says that the physiology of the human retina is such that there must be at least 477 pixels per inch in a pixelated display for the pixels to resolve (become imperceptible to the human eye) at a distance of 12 inches (305 mm).[11] "

harlekkin, 24 Sep 2013Higher PPI screens are great, I've always been a fan, but a... morethe reason for android 1080p resolution is for tv-out as it will mirror the display correctly and easily. That functionality is beyond the imagination of iphone users. Lol

On nintendo 64s 64-bit processor "...the VR4300 retained the computational abilities of the more powerful 64-bit MIPS R4300i,[54] though software rarely took advantage of 64-bit data precision operations. N64 game-titles generally used faster (and more compact) 32-bit data-operations..." the same will happen to the 64 bit cpu on ip5s as 64-bit instructions requires more processing power and ram. Samsung wants to use 64-bit processor in the next galaxies because current note 3 is approaching the 32-bit ram limit. Apple only use the 64-bit processor to power the 64-bit colours of iOS7. Lol

Even they have new chipsets, still over price. Maybe best choice for me to spent more than $600 is honami.

AnonD-136891, 24 Sep 2013lol, you know what retina display means? let's say, Steve ... moreHigher PPI screens are great, I've always been a fan, but as where 160ppi and 220ppi screens were VISUALLY discernible from a short distance, 330 and 440ppi are not so much.

Add the fact that the typical viewing distance is just over 30 cm's on a smartphone, 440ppi becomes somewhat unnecessary. I would say that 330ppi is ideal, but no more is necessary. Of course, 330ppi on a 2.8" screen is a different story to a 5" screen.

We're NOT debating pixel dimensions here, rather pixel density. I know, the two are somewhat related, but only just.

The point is - 64 bit does no harm, but when iOS8 or 9 come out with features that absolutely need 64bit, iPhone 5S will be able to make use of the update.

let's say, Steve Jobs said that beyond a ppi of 326, the human eye can NO longer differentiate between more denser screens, yeah that's quite true unless you really look very hard at it (not gonna do that). Anyways, xperia z, galaxy s4 and htc one has 441ppi and 469ppi respectively, which is more "denser" than the so called retina display, do the maths

so apple use the same ddr3 ram as the s4
its ok but when samsung announced that they will use 64-bit cpu its copying lol!
everybody knows that sooner or later all the phones would use them just like ddr3 ram
and trust me it doesn't make a difference in performance more than the difference between ddr2 and ddr3
